100,000 people forced to evacuate Los Angeles after firestorms spread

Los Angeles is in lockdown after historic firestorms swept from the coast to the city, forcing more than 100,000 people to evacuate.

Los Angeles residents are accustomed to the threat of wildfires and firestorms, but residents are witnessing one of the worst firestorms in history. Multiple fires devastate Los Angeles, causing devastation from the coast to downtown.

According to The Los Angeles Timesmore than 2,000 homes, businesses and other structures were destroyed in the Eaton Fire. The Palisades Fire reduced another thousand structures to ashes as it spread through one of America's richest regions.

The Sunset Fire erupted in Los Angeles' beloved Hollywood Hills region on Wednesday afternoon, forcing evictions in Runyon Canyon. Firefighters had more success battling the Sunset Fire, but that was overshadowed when the Palisades Fire reached the 10,000-acre mark.

The Hurst Wildfire broke out in Sylamar, leaving 855 acres burned, but became the first of the fires to become semi-contained.

More than 100,000 people have been ordered. to evacuate, leaving parts of Los Angeles blocked off, unless you're good with the alleys. High winds reaching 100 mph make fire containment nearly impossible and are pushing Los Angeles County's resources to their limits.

Pray for the city of Los Angeles. With the fires raging and thousands of people displaced, there is still a long way to go. Hopefully firefighters can contain the firestorms over the weekend and residents can begin to assess the damage.
