Christina Aguilera Sends a Bold Message to Body-Shamers

Christina Aguilera kicks off the new year with a powerful reminder of self-worth amid the ongoing Ozempic rumors.

On Tuesday, the Grammy-winning singer took to Instagram to share a video montage of her clips from last year, along with a series of critical comments from online users who questioned her physical appearance and speculated about her possible use of Ozempic.

In the caption, Christina Aguilera gave a clear message to her 10 million followers, stressing that while the verdict is inevitable, “nobody deserves an explanation.”

Despite online criticism, Aguilera has learned to prioritize self-love and confidence by being comfortable in her own skin.

“Doing something a little different this year,” she began. “This is a reminder to everyone that you are THE NARRATOR OF YOUR OWN LIFE. No one else can define who you are. No one deserves an explanation.”

“I've evolved enough to know that nothing comes easy and nobody's perfect,” she continued. “Everyone will judge you. No matter what you do. And/or what you don't do. Acceptance comes from accepting yourself first. And the hard journey it sometimes takes to get there.”

The “Genie In A Bottle” artist has recently become the target of online criticism and body shaming following her transformation. Despite ongoing online discussion and speculation about whether the “Beautiful” singer has taken medication, Aguilera has not directly addressed the rumors.

In context, Ozempic is a semaglutide injection originally approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat type 2 diabetes. However, it has gained widespread attention due to its off-label use as a weight loss aid along with similar drugs on the market.

The singer's fans immediately flooded the comments to praise Aguilera for standing up for herself.

This is the first time she has spoken out about the backlash she has received regarding her body image and weight.

“I have the maturity now where I just don't care about your opinion,” she said Glamour earlier this year. “I'm not taking it. It's your responsibility to take your place. What other people think of me is none of my business.”

“When you're a teenager, you have a very different body than when you're in your 20s,” she added. “I started filling out and then it was unacceptable because it was like, 'Oh, she's getting fatter.' Then I had people in the industry saying, 'They liked your body and how you were like a skinny teenager.'”

In 2023, the “Beautiful” singer opened up about the double standards she's faced as a woman in the spotlight, examining her appearance and the natural aging process.

“It's a lot of prejudice, a lot of old-school behavior and ideals that women have to look a certain way and that it's shameful to get older,” Aguilera said. Allure in an interview published in March. “No matter what you do, you're going to have people who hate you.”

“I've always been a pretty open book about embracing my body, my appearance,” she explained. “I think to each their own, and I think we (should) do what's right for us, so I don't believe in judgment when it comes to that.”
