Fans at the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi were in for a big surprise when the actor Morgan Freeman joined Al Green on stage during his performance on New Year's Eve.
Freeman and Green sang a duet of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's 1971 classic, “Let's Stay Together,” and the crooner even joined in on the fun.
Morgan Freeman is reportedly co-owner of the blues club.

The Ground Zero Blues Club's Instagram account shared a video of Al Green-Morgan Freeman performing on December 31 with the caption, “Morgan Freeman & Al Green LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!”
The video showed Freeman wearing a cream turtleneck sweater and a navy double-breasted jacket as he sang “Let's Stay Together” on stage with the legendary Green, who rocked a green jacket with a black lapel and a white button-down shirt.
Green asked the crowd to join in as he and Freeman crooned: “I | I'm so in love with you | Everything you want to do | I'm fine | because you make me feel so young | And I want to spend my life with you.”

Freeman sang solo for the second verse; “Let me say since then, baby | Since we've been together | Oh, love you forever | That's what I need,” and the 87-year-old movie star even hit a high note that drew a quick nod from Green. he clapped for the “Million Dollar Baby” actor before continuing the song.

Freeman also celebrated the New Year's performance with a post on social media.
“Lioness” the actor shared snapshots of the duo Xformally on Twitter, with the caption: “We rang in the New Year last night at Ground Zero with Al Green and the Kingfish. Happy New Year everyone!”
Fans praised the video in the comments section and wished the “Shawshank Redemption” star a Happy New Year.
“I need more of this in my life and less petty arguments. Happy New Year Mr. Freeman. May your blessings be abundant in 2025,” one fan wrote.
Another replied: “Happy New Year sir!”

Singing with Al Green was Freeman's dream
CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez visited the Mississippi jukebox during the show and captured another angel's performance on video.
Jimenez shared a video of his X followers with a caption stating that singing with Green was a “dream come true” for the Oscar winner.
The caption read: “Morgan Freeman took the stage to fulfill his 'dream.'” He said it was to sing with Al Green.
“That made me happy, two legends enjoying life,” replied one X user. “Two legends on stage, love to see that,” another user added.
“He looks like a kid up there.. see that smile? Love to see it! I'm happy for him,” one commented.

The “Glory” star opened the blues club with partners Eric Meyer, Howard Stovall and the late Bill Luckett. Their goal was to open an establishment that celebrated Mississippi's blues heritage.
In addition to his club, Freeman remains a very busy actor. He is currently acting in two films; the thriller Gunner and the drama My Dead Friend Zoe.
He will also be seen in the upcoming film Now You See Me 3.

Freeman also stars in the Paramount + TV series Special Ops: Lioness with actresses Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman.
The action series is another installment from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan. The show is based on the CIA and features Freeman as US Secretary of State Edwin Mullins.
The show began its second season in October, and the series is as popular as Sheridan's other shows for Paramount. Sheridan told Freeman that he wrote the role with the actor in mind as he approached the star.
“He made me play the role he wrote,” Freeman said in an interview TVInsider. “So it's almost like he's saying to me, 'I wrote this for you,' which is flattering in itself.”
