Just a few days before the 2025 Golden Globes, Laverne Cox announced his resignation from the position of manager E! s The live red carpet telecast follows three successful years of award season coverage for the network.

Cox, known for her signature question to A-listers: “What story are you telling with your outfit tonight?” and her standout performances in rare and vintage fashion brought charisma and authenticity to every red carpet moment.

Stepping into the role in 2021, replacing longtime host Julianne Rancic, Laverne Cox quickly became a fan favorite with her warmth, wit and deep appreciation of fashion and celebrity culture.

Friday, January 3 Laverne Cox revealed that she was stepping down as manager E! s red carpet live after three years as one of the most recognizable faces of the awards season broadcast.

“It is with incredible gratitude that I have decided not to return as a red carpet anchor for #LiveFromE,” Cox began in her Instagram post, which included a series of memorable moments from over the years. “I'm so incredibly proud of the work we've accomplished in my three years. I want to say a big thank you to everyone at @nbcuniversal, @eentertainment and @denofthievestv for your incredible support.”

She continued: “These moments remind me of what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world's greatest artists about their work, overcome the pressures of success, etc.”

Who will replace Laverne Cox at the 2025 Golden Globes?

Cox teased some of the upcoming projects she has in store as she told her fans that she's looking forward to “continuing to grow, evolve and explore great opportunities as an actress, artist, presenter and speaker.”

“I hope you all continue to walk with me on my evolving journey,” she added. “Tune in to my new comedy series Clean Slate premiering on Amazon Prime February 6th.”

Since the announcement came just two days before the Golden Globes, many fans thought her departure was rather sudden.

According to E!Laverne Cox will not be on the Golden Globes red carpet this Sunday. Instead, Access Hollywood star Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahon will host live interviews with nominees and attendees throughout the evening.

The Emmy-nominated actress will star in Prime Video's upcoming comedy series Clean Slate.

The show centers on Cox's character, Desiree Slate, who returns to her hometown of Mobile, Alabama, years after leaving for New York as a teenager.

Her goal is to reconnect with her father, Harry Slate (played by George Wallace), an outspoken car wash owner. However, after receiving an email from his estranged child, Harry expected his son to show up on his doorstep, not his daughter.

“After being away for 23 years and, as she says in the pilot, being in really dysfunctional relationships with men, she realizes that she has to go back to the first unavailable male source in her life, and that's her father,” Cox. told Entertainment Weeklyteasing that “throughout the series, we discover that there are other reasons why she's come home.”

This year's Golden Globes nominees offer a particularly diverse range of films, in part because of the disruption to the release schedule and a change in the voting structure following Hollywood's double strikes in 2023.
