Aubrey Plaza and husband Jeff Bean's relationship timeline

Aubrey Square and Jeff Brothers were together for more than a decade before his death in 2025.

The couple started dating in 2011, but have never confirmed when they met or when their love story began.

Baena also expressed how lucky he is to work with his wife. “She's great. I would work with her if she wasn't my wife, but luckily she is,” Baena said Reel Talker in 2022. “The opportunity to do something creative (together) where we're both fulfilled — how rare is that?”

Before starting production Turn me aroundPlaza shared Baen's celebratory Instagram post praising his film. She too subtly revealed that the two had tied the knot.

“So proud of my sweet husband,” Plaza wrote in May 2021. “For dreaming up another movie that takes us to Italy to cause more trouble.”

2011

Plaza and Baena have been dating since 2011, but it is not known when they started dating.

2014 year

Baena made his directorial debut in 2014 Life after Betastarring Plaza.

2017 year

Plaza made her debut as a film producer with Baen Small hoursin which she played a nun named Sister Fernanda.

2020 year

Plaza's dark humor inspired a unique Valentine's Day Instagram post featuring her husband. The two posed for a photo, with Plaza holding a dagger to Baena's face. “And Happy Valentine's Day,” she captioned the photo, adding a heart emoji.

The year 2021

Celebrating Baena's film Turn me around in May, Plaza subtly announced that she and Baena had become friends. “So proud of my beloved husband,” she wrote on Instagram.

She later shared the full story The Ellen DeGeneres Show in December of that year.

Plaza went on to explain how she had to negotiate to get an officiant to agree to drive to her home and perform the ceremony in their backyard. She enlisted her neighbor, whom she described as a real-life witch, to receive her spiritual blessing.

“I made a very quick altar of love in our yard. The facts of our love, stones, smoke, fire. Things of that nature. Then the man from Alhambra appeared,” Plaza continued. “I don't remember much of it, it was a blur. But I'm pretty sure it was legal.

The year 2022

Turn me around premiered in the United States in August, starring Plaza along with a co-writer Alison Brie.

Several months later, the Plaza opened GQ on marriage to Baen comparing her life to that her character switched on White lotusHarper.

“I've been with my husband for 12 years,” she said in November. “I have relationships that have peaks and valleys, and going through a rough patch and comparing myself to another couple that seems perfect.”

January 2025

The news broke it Baena died at the age of 47. The cause of death was not immediately released and Plaza did not issue a statement.
