Angelina Jolie's bitter divorce from Brad Pitt ends with an $80 million payout

Angelina Jolie reportedly netted $80 million after her acrimonious divorce battle was settled Brad Pitt.

Until recently, the two were locked in a legal dispute over the details of their divorce for more than eight years, despite a prenuptial agreement in 2014.

According to reports, Angelina Jolie's post-divorce earnings include her stake in a winery she co-owned with Brad Pitt and a Winston Churchill painting she received as a gift from the actor.

After more than eight years of legal battle, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finalized their divorce shortly before the end of the year, according to documents filed Dec. 30 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Financial records were not disclosed in the documents, so it is unclear who received what. However, according to Daily mailJolie walked away $80 million richer after dragging Pitt “through the ringer” throughout the lengthy court battle.

Before marrying in 2014, the two had signed a prenuptial agreement that allowed them to keep their individual assets, dividing the joint capital in the event of a divorce.

Unfortunately for Pitt, the arrangement helped Jolie earn $64 million when she sold her 50 percent stake in the Château Miraval winery she co-owned with the actor.

She also kept $11.5 million in earnings from a Winston Churchill painting she sold at auction after initially receiving the rare painting as a gift from Pitt.

Despite the fact that his now ex-wife has gained so much, Pitt seems unfazed and is focused on the fact that his marriage to the actress is officially over.

“(He's) relieved to finally have that weight off him,” a source told the publication Daily mail about an actor. “He's no longer involved in his marriage to Angelina in any way. She's really put him through the ringer and he's just glad that part is over.”

Meanwhile, Jolie is also relieved that their divorce battle is now over after being completely exhausted by the legal back-and-forth she's had to endure over the years.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” the actress' attorney said in a statement. “This is just one part of a long process that began eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved that this part is over.”

According to Daily maila source familiar with the situation revealed why Pitt decided to settle his contentious divorce dispute with his ex-wife.

An insider told the news outlet that the 61-year-old actor is “relieved” about the split after growing tired of it because he believed Jolie was “dragging her legs” over the split.

They added that his intention to be friends with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon in 2025 is the reason why he chose to finalize the divorce.

“They want to get married within the next year, and Brad has reconciled because he wants to keep his kids by his side so his new marriage can continue,” the insider shared. “Apparently Inese is also very keen to have children and was pushing him to sort it all out as soon as possible.”

Although their divorce is over, the former couple is still hurting over the winery they once owned.

According to a source close to Pitt, the duo had “acquired Miraval with the intention of keeping it 100% in the family.”

The source added: “They were going to pass it on to their children so they could one day run the business, which would ensure a profitable and stable future for all of them.”

In 2022, however, Jolie changed her plans and sold her stake, which Pitt claimed violated an oral agreement that neither would sell their shares without the other's consent.

Now, the former couple may finally go to trial later this year after Supreme Court Justice Leah Martin recently dismissed Jolie's latest motion to dismiss.
