The movie Maid in Manhattan has captivated rom-com lovers for the past 20 years.
In the 2002 film Marisa Ventura (Jennifer Lopez) plays a single mother who works as a maid in a posh Manhattan hotel and dreams of a better life for her son Ty (Tyler Posey). She meets Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), heir to a political dynasty, who thinks Marissa is a hotel guest. After one romantic evening together, the couple falls in love. But once Marisa's identity is revealed, they both realize that they both come from very different worlds.
Maid in Manhattan is loosely based on the true story of Stephen ClarkeSon of the Governor of New York Nelson Rockefellerwho got married Anne-Marie Rasmussena maid who worked in a family hotel, in 1959.
Twenty years after the film hit theaters, Fiennes discovered it during filming Maid in Manhattanhe was caught by the paparazzi with Lopez and ended acts as a decoy society to hide her early days and Ben Affleck relationship.
“I was created,” the Grand Budapest Hotel the actor shared during a November 2022 appearance Watch what happens live with Andy Cohen. “I got invited to dinner with J.Lo and her manager and her agent… We had a nice dinner, chatty chatty… (Afterwards) I thought I was going home, but (we gave each other) a goodnight cheek. But somehow the pictures were cut so that when she was walking away, I was walking behind her.
