Demi Moore wins her first Golden Globe

Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The 62-year-old actress won the award for best performance by an actress in a motion picture – musical or comedy for her role in “The Substance”.

The Golden Globe Award is the first major award won by Demi Moore.

Moore won for her portrayal of Elizabeth Sparkle in the horror/sci-fi film The Substance. In the film, Moore is a famous and aging aerobics instructor who is fired because of her age.

In the film, a distraught Sparkle takes a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better-looking clone who tries to take over her life (played by Margaret Queley).

The “GI Jane” actress was humble during her acceptance speech and said she was “in shock.” CBS.

“Oh wow! I really didn't expect it,” said Moore about her historic victory. “I'm just in shock right now. I've been doing this for a long time — like over 45 years — and this is the first time I've won anything as an actor. And I'm so humbled and grateful.”

Moore added that thirty years ago a producer told her that she was just a “popcorn” actress and that although she could be successful in the industry and make a lot of money, she would never be recognized.

“I bought in and I believed in it,” Moore said. “It ate away at me over time to the point that a few years ago I thought maybe this is it, maybe I'm complete, maybe I've done what I had to do and I was on my level. this magical, brave, brave , the extraordinary, absolutely insane script landed on my desk called “Substance”.

Entertainment tonight caught up with the actress after her win, and she said her acceptance speech came from her heart.

“I have to say I was in such shock,” she said. “I wasn't expecting all that. I think it was just, like, a spill.”

The A Few Good Men star was shown a clip of her three daughters with her ex-husband Bruce Willis — Scout, Tallulah, and Rumer — excitedly react to her Golden Globe win.

“Oh my god! They're a vocal crowd,” she exclaimed. “The truth is, I realized there were so many people I didn't get a chance to thank. And the truth is, everything I do is for them. This is for my daughters, my daughter's daughter. And I hope that goes for all women too. I am so grateful to be a part of paving a new path, a new way for women to see what we can do. And I'm not the answer, but I can be a small piece.”

Moore began her career in entertainment on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital” when she was just 19 years old.

The young actress soon landed a role in Blame It on Rio before moving on to lead roles in hits such as No Small Affair and St. Elmo's Fire. In 1990, Moore starred in the movie “Ghost” with Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldbergand she soon became the highest paid actress in Hollywood.

She went on to star in several more films, including Some Good Men, Indecent Proposal, and The Juror.

Moore is currently starring in Paramount's “Landman” opposite Billy Bob Thornton.

According to The Hollywood Reportermost of Moore's scenes in “The Substance” feature the actress “without dialogue.”

“The script was such an interesting, unusual read, the way it explored aging,” Moore said. “I was gripped by the study of self-abuse. , that way we can dissect and critique. At least in my life experience, I've found that it's really not what someone else has done to me. It's always been about what I do to myself that's influenced , internalized.”

“So it was all these weird, intimate moments that we have with ourselves, where we're often naked, looking, dissecting, thinking,” she continued. “It was a really interesting challenge to create a full life for her because I didn't have anyone else to feed off of. It was also very technical.”
