A month after showing support for Grande's October 2024 plan Saturday evening live by hosting a concert, Slater addressed their relationship and the scrutiny surrounding it for the first time.

Still, Slater admitted he had a hard time waiting for people to like him again as they clung to their papers and pens.
“I think there was something really difficult about having things in your private life being commented on and watched by the public,” he added. “There's been a lot of big changes in personal life, so it's really hard to see people who don't know anything about what's going on commenting on that.”
But he managed to block out the noise somewhat. As he added about Grande's song “Imperfect For You,” which was rumored to be about him, “I love that song.”
