Cher and Jimmy Kimmel have a tense moment after a 'dumb' question

Shera shared an intense and awkward moment in an interview with the late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after taking offense at what she considered a “dumb” question.

The icy exchange began when Kimmel asked her if she had finished the second part of her book, to which she replied in the negative.

Jimmy Kimmel then continued to mock Cher, expressing doubt that she would finish before the November release date, after she admitted that she “hasn't even started.”

Cher appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's Late Night Show on Tuesday night where she was asked some quick questions about her life.

However, according to Daily mail“Heart of Stone” seemed put off by some of Kimmel's questions, which led to an awkward moment on set.

In a conversation promoting her book Cher: The Memoir, the first part of which was released in November 2024, Kimmel asked the singer if she had started the second part before the November 2025 release date.

“The second part of your book, have you finished it yet?” Kimmel asked what seemed to set the singer off.

At first, Cher responded with a laugh before admitting that she “haven't even started it.”

Kimmel seemed shocked and asked if it was “true” that she hadn't started, prompting Cher to give him a cool look.

The usually friendly Kimmel then expressed doubt that she would finish it by November if she hadn't “even started.”

While Cher remained coldly silent during the interview, Kimmel said of her memoir, “So it's not coming out in November.”

“Yes, it is,” Cher replied, insisting it will be released in November, to which Kimmel teased, “We'll see.”

The conversation devolved into a back-and-forth before Kimmel jokingly offered to help with the memoir, which Cher politely declined.

As the show continued, Kimmel started to ask another question, but the music legend seemed bored and stopped before he could finish his statement.

At the end of the interview, Kimmel asked the music legend one more question, saying, “If you could turn back time (a reference to Cher's hit single 'If I Could Turn Back Time'),” but before he could finish, the singer interrupted.

“That's so stupid,” Cher said, trying to come up with an answer.

In another conversation with Kimmel, Cher, born Cheryl Sarkisian, weighed in further on her relationship with Sonia Bono, revealing the reason they stayed together for so long.

She had a tumultuous marriage to Bono from 1964 to 1975 and starred with him in “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour.”

According to Daily mailthe singer told Kimmel that their time on the show kept their marriage going for a long time.

“I gotta tell you something. Running the show kept us together because we had so much fun on the show. We were equals, you know?” Cher began.

“It was — I mean, I loved — I loved it. We loved it. We worked so well together. We had so much fun and it really kept us closer than I really wanted to,” Cher added.

During the interview, Cher listed a mystery man who helped her leave Bono. Although she mentioned him in her book, she didn't name him on TV because she thought about how he felt about it.

“I have people I've mentioned there and I wonder what they're thinking. Like, one guy who… he really helped me get off Sonny.” Shera said.

“I wonder, I mentioned his whole name, so I wonder how he feels about that? But he must feel good because he was a really good person,” she added.

The actress then mentioned that she believed this particular person was currently in Texas, although she didn't want Kimmel to find and contact him.

Kimmel's interview comes after Cher revealed the identity of the music producer who forced her into sex when she was 15 and later pulled a gun on her.

In her book, she detailed a “strange” encounter with the late Phil Spector, whom she met through her then-boyfriend Antonino LoTempio.

“He might have been a demigod to many, but he was acting strange and I didn't like the way he looked at me,” she wrote of the music producer in her memoir, before recounting the shocking moment he asked her to sleep with him.

“” Voulez-vous coucher avec moi? he said, grinning, asking me to sleep with him,” Cher said. She then wrote her reply saying that she would have sex with him in exchange for money.

“Without breaking a sweat, I looked back at him and said, 'Oui, pour l'argent,'” she shared.

Sher added in her book: “You could have knocked him down with a feather. He didn't think I would understand the question, let alone the answer.”
