In her new book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Age, Shields shared the shocking story of an unwanted cosmetic procedure she received.
The 'Endless Love' star revealed that she went to a gynecologist and was asked after the examination if she had ever experienced any discomfort due to her labia. Shields wrote, “Only in skinny jeans and cutting classes and every romantic moment,” according to PEOPLE.
The model added, “I'm sorry if this is too graphic or just plain TMI,” but noted that while she may be “embarrassed,” it's important to bring up “uncomfortable but very real issues. Shame is no longer an option.”

Shields wrote that since she was in high school, her labia had been a problem that caused her pain. Her friend had a similar problem and they joked that they had “two little speed bags” between their legs.
“It was painful and bothersome and when I told my gynecologist she said it was very common and that I was definitely a candidate for a lip reduction procedure.” wrote Shields.

Shields' gynecologist recommended a reduction procedure to a male doctor, and she decided to have the surgery. After the doctor was done, he told Shields that he had performed vaginal reconstruction surgery on her without her consent.
“When it was over, the doctor told me how it went,” she recalled. “'I went into great detail,' he said, to my relief and delight. And then, 'I was there for four hours, and you know what I did? I stressed you out a bit! I give you a little strength! ''
“Pretty Baby” the actress wrote that she was “shocked”, “speechless” and “horrified” by the news.

After the children were born, the doctor told Shields, “Everything is more relaxed.”
The doctor explained that “everything is looser” after having children, but Shields had delivered her children via C-section.
