Everything we know about Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone spin-off series

“The Madison” does not have a release date yet, but is currently in production according to Variety. With the exception of Yellowstone's final season, Sheridan's shows usually hit our TV screens pretty quickly. Each of the first four seasons of the flagship series aired only a year apart, and Sheridan's non-Yellowstone shows announced in early 2022 – namely the war on terror thriller Special Ops: Lioness and the oil drilling drama Landman – released their first seasons in 2023 and 2024, respectively. “The Madison” was just officially announced around August 2024so if Sheridan's latest development patterns continue, it could be released later this year.

As for where to watch “The Madison,” that hasn't been officially announced either by breedalthough based on the success of “Yellowstone” (which was so popular last season that airs on nine different networks), I expect the answer will probably involve more than one viewing option. Some of Sheridan's shows have debuted exclusively on the streamer Paramount+, while “Yellowstone” itself called cable TV's The Paramount Network home. Either option would be fine for “The Madison,” though “both at once” might be the most profitable option for Paramount.

If you've ever wondered what Sheridan thinks about urban slackers trying to make it in Montana (I, kid, heard a lot about that in Yellowstone), The Madison might be for you. Early news about the show indicated that it is about matriarch Stacey Clyburn, who moves her family from New York to Montana in the present day. Recent reports have offered a few more details, with Variety citing an official line from the magazine calling it “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York family in central Montana's Madison River Valley.”

Based on this description, we'll probably see less murder victims in the canyons than in Yellowstone, and it sounds like Sheridan is trying his hand at a more grounded drama. However, there is no doubt i want to be a drama: Other announced characters are described as “members of New York's elite” and a younger daughter who “also grew up in a wealthy New York family.” Watch out coastal elite! For all its flaws, Sheridan's shows continue to attract A-listers, and “The Madison” is no exception. “Scarface” and “Batman Returns” actress Michelle Pfeiffer will host the show as Stacey, while “Suits” alumnus Patrick J. Adams, “LOST” star Matthew Fox, and model and “Tron: Legacy” actress Beau Garrett. star. Previously, Matthew McConaughey was linked to the show, which turned out to be “The Madison,” but reported his possible involvement may have been blown out of proportion. Kurt Russell was also included in an early casting report, but Term says his participation in the show remains unconfirmed, while Variety's extensive cast list for the series makes no mention of the action star at all.

If Russell is set to appear in “The Madison,” his character remains under wraps, but other roles have been revealed. The show has quite the cast, which also includes Elle Chapman (“A Man Called Otto”) who will play Paige, Adams Russell's materialistic wife. Amy Miller, star of the 2022 horror comedy The Exorcism of My Best Friend, will star, along with Ben Schnetzer (“Y: The Last Man”). The show's final round of casting includes Daniela Vasinova (“1923”), who will play the matriarch of an indigenous ranching family, Alain Polak (“On Call”), who will take on the role of Garrett's character's youngest daughter, Kevin. Taylor Sheridan, a Hollywood icon so prolific and busy that he at one point inspired a parody, joking that he's actually several people pretending to be one guy (see the great “Rutherford Falls” series “Adirondacks S3”), unsurprisingly, is on board The Madison as its writer, creator and executive producer. His company, Bosque Ranch Productions, which is presumably the business that licenses Sheridan's shows shoot in your real lifeis producing the series, as are MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.

Pfeiffer also has an EP credit on the project (one of the first of her career!), while other executive producers reportedly include Ron Burkle, Keith Cox, Michael Friedman, David K. Glasser, David Hatkin, John Linson, Art Linson, Christina. Voros and Bob Yari. All of the EPs except Pfeiffer have worked on previous Sheridan shows, and Cox served as executive producer on “Yellowstone.”

Here's where things get tricky. The Madison was initially billed in the press as a sequel series to Yellowstone, but as is typical of the Sheridanverse, it soon became clear that the sheer number of shows in development meant things weren't as clear-cut as they seemed. . Since the initial announcement, we have got approval The Yellowstone sequel series, which continues the story of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and additional shows in the universe are still being talked about, such as modern set “6666.” Will these shows cross over with “The Madison,” or will any of them seep into the fabric of “The Madison” as development progresses?
