Deon Cole forced to evacuate his Los Angeles home amid fires

Deon Cole had a rough few days. After being hospitalized on his birthday, the comedian said he was the latest celebrity forced to flee due to the Los Angeles wildfires.

Friday, Cole revealed on Instagram that he spent his birthday hospitalized before returning home to evacuate as the fires closed in on his neighborhood. He posted a heartbreaking photo of himself in a car filled with what he could salvage from home before heading to safety.

This day is devastating!!! I left the hospital early, sick, went home, then had to pack what I could to evacuate,” he said in a caption. “As I walked away, I saw the fire rising behind my house It's a nightmare!! I received the flowers that my mother gave me before she died.

Cole is one of many people who were forced to evacuate because of the fires in the Pacific Palisades. They are only 11% contained, leading experts to believe that most of the damage is still to come.

Other celebrities like Tina Knowles, Jhene Aiko and DDG have already said goodbye to their beloved homes due to the fires.

“This is what I was watching on my birthday last weekend from my tiny overwater bungalow in Malibu! It was my favorite place, my sanctuary, my sacred Happy Place. Now it's gone!! God bless all the brave men and women of our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions,” Knowles said in a Jan. 10 article. “For the people who have lost their homes and possessions, I can only imagine what it feels like to lose your properties and everything you have worked so hard and sacrificed so much for! My heart and deep prayers go out to you all.

Companies like Airbnb are offering services to those affected, but there appears to be no end in sight for those affected by the wildfires.
