Inside Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's Surprising Reinvention

Not that they blame each other for how dramatically their story has unfolded over the years.

“We were famous whores, literally getting over a million pictures a year and being hated for it,” Pratt proudly told Vice is largely in 2016. “It's frustrating to me that people don't recognize that it was genius. It was innovative!”

And they still managed to capture that often elusive happy ending. “Here we are with our son and we've been together for 12 years,” Montag told E! News' Justin Sylvester at the 2019 premiere The hills: a new beginning. “And it’s been a great adventure, such a fun adventure.”

Still, if Pratt could offer a piece of advice or two, he'd probably suggest his sons avoid some of his gnarlier antics.

When asked to name the most important wisdom he intends to impart, Pratt's response was genuine and thoughtful. “Well, the first thing I would teach him is not to burn bridges,” he said. Burst. “It's a hard lesson that I learned thinking that I could do everything myself without, you know, my teammates or the support of my friends and family. In business and in life, I I've learned that you really need that support system – yes, you little baby, no, you can't do everything yourself So yes, definitely, no burning bridges, only olive branches.
