Robert Ran into legal trouble in 2023 when he was arrested for DUI while driving Maria to remove him from the police station. His struggles with substance abuse were highlighted in Season 5, where an emotional conversation with Maria saw her break down because of his revelations.
Until December 2024 Maria gave hopeful information about his son's recovery. “He's doing well. He went to rehab. He was there for 30 days and I was like, 'No! Please stay longer! He says, “I want to stay longer,” she shared. However, Robert's recent actions suggest that his journey to rehab may not be as steady as fans had hoped.
Instagram Rant Sparks Backlash
on January 12, Robert used Instagram Stories to post a series of controversial messages. He began with a black screen and white text: “Anyone asking about my sobriety, it's none of your business.”
He followed it up with a picture of a ceiling fan and the caption: “I love my fans but there's a thing called personal space.” While the news seemed innocuous enough, things quickly changed when Robert called out RHOSLC to throw in a harsh manner.
“Btw all these sluts on rhwoslc are not people to look up to. My lovely mother aside, just because they are 'rich' doesn't mean they are good people,” he wrote.
He then added another post with a black background declaring: “They are all fake!”
Screenshots of the news were shared on Reddit by user u/Extreme-Physics1670, where fans expressed their disappointment and confusion at Robert's remarks.
Community response
Roberta the use of the word “slut” caused considerable backlash. Although some fans admitted that RHOSLC cast can't always be a role model, many condemned his choice of words as hateful and disrespectful.
One Reddit commenter wrote: “You can criticize people without using derogatory language.” Others questioned how Mary might react to her son's public outburst given her protective nature.
At the time of writing, Roberts has not addressed the news or offered an apology.
