There are two sci-fi classics from the 1970s that have received more debunking and debunking than any other film of the decade. The first is obvious Star Wars and we've already covered which of these kicks you should see in the previous video, so check it out if you need more lasers and space battles in your life.

Because this time we're talking about another sci-fi game changer from the 70s, An alien. A simple monster movie set in space became a generational masterpiece that changed the future of both science fiction and horror in cinema. And since it was such a major success, you know the movies will continue to inspire and even direct An alien off for decades to come.

So, we've decided to explore the vastness of space and even the depths of the oceans for the absolute cream of the xenomorph culture. I'm Drew Deitch for Giant Freakin Robot and this is the Top 10 An alien knockoffs are actually worth your time.

10. Pollution (1980)

You know we had to include the ripoff maestros, the Italians, and we had plenty to choose from. Heck, the Italians went so far as to make a movie actually called Alien 2! But we will include only one Italian An alien knockoff and it has to be from our favorite Italian Star Wars ripoff director, Starcrashby Luigi Cozzi himself. It is Pollution.

Coming out next year after An alien, Pollution bring evil alien eggs to Earth because it's cheaper than building spaceship kits. Lots of fun, nasty effects and some cute, like olives being used for alien eggs or a giant Cyclops monster. Pollution a prime example of cheesy Italian ripoffs.

9. Lily Cat (1987)

Anime In the 80s, they drew a lot of inspiration from An alien. So much so that it came full circle with a fan anime short film, Alien: Monday. But Lily the CAT is the only one that falls pretty much into full-on ripoff territory.

Also taking its cues from John Carpenter's The case, Lily the CAT is a simple and straightforward story about a spaceship crew terrorized by evolving alien bacteria. As with most 80s anime, violence and gore are prominent max. Less than 70 minutes, Lily the CAT is a quick and focused shot An alien knockoff goodness.

8. Lifeforce (1985)

lfieforce

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper blends together An alien and another movie we have covered on this channel, Quatermass and pitdelving into the spectacular and boobtastic blockbuster, Life force.

Based on the novel Space vampires, Life force puts a unique spin on the “discover an abandoned spaceship” riff by placing an alien vehicle in a cometary coma. When the alien madness hits Earth, you're in for some pretty amazing effects that are worth the entire movie's existence.

7. Leviathan (1989)

In the late 1980s, several films were quickly shot in anticipation of another film being pulled, Abyss. Of course, since Abyss actually hadn't released yet, they also needed to rip off An alien for their plots of land. And while I can certainly sing the praises DeepStar Sixthe best of these is the work of George P. Kosmatos Leviathan.

With an amazingly brilliant cast of noteworthy actors, Leviathan conveys the claustrophobic horror of outer space An alien to the deep sea. If you like yours An alien knockoffs wet and wild, be sure to set aside some time Leviathan.

6. The Forbidden World (1982)

Much like the Italians, Roger Corman ripped off An alien more times than we can count. But if any of his exploitation experiments stand out in this arena, it should Forbidden World.

You won't find anything new here when it comes to the story, but Forbidden World plays hits with great success. And it doesn't even last 80 minutes, so this is another short and sweet effects fest that any self-respecting B-movie fan should check off their bucket list.

5. Underwater (2020)

underwater

Oh, you thought these weren't going to be anything but 80s movies? No! An alien continues to be a source of inspiration for filmmakers and Underwater is a fascinating modern example. It hit theaters in 2020 and was quickly forgotten by audiences. It's their loss because of the big studio An alien blows, Underwater is the ultimate winner.

Great production design, propulsion and some monstrous discoveries Underwater kind of science fiction horror, we rarely get out of Hollywood anymore. If it flew under your radar, do yourself a favor and check it out Underwater. It's only 95 minutes! Bless these An alien movies and their reasonable running time.

4. Event Horizon (1997)

Hey, I thought we talked about this movie before! Seriously, you can go check out our entire video on Event horizonbut it's worth noting that director Paul VS Anderson didn't shy away from his influences when making Event horizonand An alien is all over this movie.

Although it ultimately leans more towards that Hellraiser nothing An alienall production design Event horizon has directly influenced Ridley Scott's Truck Driver in sci-fi technology. Want something more supernatural An alien tribute? Event horizon is your ticket.

3. Deep Rising (1998)

A crew of villains must deal with a seemingly abandoned ship and begin to fall prey to a strange monster? No, you are not back Boatswainyou have booked a ride on the website Argonautics and the absolute blast that is Growing deep.

Another blast ensemble cast and blockbuster effects from The mummy director Steven Sommers allows Growing deep to be a pure popcorn treat that always entertains. If you're not smiling during this movie, you might want to check your pulse.

2. Pick Black (2000)

Before that, he did nothing but Fast & Furious movies, Vin Diesel starred as the criminal Riddick Pitch blackone of the best sci-fi horror movies of the 2000s.

You have the usual An alien story archetypes: slightly misfit spaceship crew, strange planet, unknown alien monsters. It all works well, but adding the villainous Riddick to the mix adds a really different flavor. And the alien monsters are just awesome. I will watch this over any other Vin Diesel movie anytime. …Except maybe Iron giant.

1. Abroad (1981)

foreign

The best An alien A knockoff is actually a movie you've probably never seen or even related to An alien. Extraterrestrial really is a westerner in space with Sean Connery playing a lawyer in a mining colony where the illegal drug market thrives. There are no alien monsters in it Extraterrestrial but the film's scenery, tone and themes have always made me claim it Extraterrestrial can also happen An alien universe.

It's also a legitimately great movie that most people seem to have almost forgotten about. If you want to see a story that feels like it belongs alongside corporate horror An alien, Extraterrestrial is a home run and that makes it number one An alien slaughtered.
