Kyle Richards Shares Why She Quit Filming RHOBH

Kyle Richards revealed why she stopped filming during the yet-to-be-seen episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The “RHOBH” star took a break from filming season 14 after the Jan. 21 episode titled “Perfect Storm Out.”

During the interview with The Hollywood ReporterKyla Richards revealed she stopped filming the show because she was depressed.

Richards has been separated from her husband of almost 30 years, Maurizio Umanskyand their 2023 divorce has been on the reality show ever since. Titled “Perfect Storm Out,” the sneak peek shows the 56-year-old getting out of a spa day after things get heated with her co-stars.

During filming, Richard stepped out of a spa day

Footage from the “RHOBH” season 14 trailer captured a heated exchange between Richards and her co-star, Dorrit Kemsley.

The two women argued about Richard and Kemsley's husband texting, with Kyle retorting: “What else do you want from me?”

Kemsley cried, “I want you to stop raising your voice at me, king!”

Richards is also seen leaving a spa day at an associate's St. John of Bozom's house wears a bathrobe after getting into a confrontation with the ladies.

“I'm done with this sh-t,” cried Richard. I'm done. I'm not doing that anymore!”

Richards revealed that she stopped filming the reality show for a week after a spa day.

The “RHOBH” star says she's been plagued by depression

Richards told The Hollywood Reporter that depression played a role in her decision to stop filming “RHOBH.” She did not film for a week after the spa day explosion and explained that she was tired of confrontations with other ladies.

“I regret how I handled it, but I didn't leave. I'm not depressed,” she said. “I've had anxiety all my life, but never depression. I really felt like I was struggling with depression, and I expressed it. And I just felt like I couldn't go into scripts all the time and just have everyone turn on me.”

“I thought, 'Maybe today will be different,' as naive as that sounds,” she continued. “People that I thought were my friends suddenly felt like they weren't. I just felt like it was too much with what was going on in my life and I thought, 'Why should I put up with this?' I don't know why I keep doing it.”

The reality star almost didn't return for season 14

Richards also revealed that she almost didn't return for season 14 because of her personal life. The former “Little House on the Prairie” actress is the only original cast member still on “RHOBH.”

The OG said her personal life almost kept her from signing on for the current season, but she decided the show would help keep her busy while adjusting to her new life.

“It was absolutely the closest I've ever come to not coming back on the show,” Richard revealed. “There's a lot of pressure on the show as it is, and there were so many things in my personal life that were difficult and painful. I thought, 'I don't really know how I can go through a season dealing with this.' .' We also have a lot of fun on the show, and I didn't even know if I could do it.”

“I remember coming home when Mau had first moved out and Alexia had just moved out. It was like, 'Oh my god, my house is so quiet.' I'm not used to that,” she continued. “It was one of those days when no one was there. I thought it was strange that I would have this new life with less people at home. And also the desire to be busy and busy.”

Richards said the producer respected her decision to stop filming

Richards said Bravo respected her decision to take a break from filming after she left a spa day at St. John's house.

“I said, 'I just can't do it; I can't film right now,' and production respected that,” Richard revealed. “They know I've never done that. In all these years, I've never called in sick or never shown up; I've never canceled a shoot. So they said, 'I think take advantage of this time. you need it and we'll be in touch again when you're feeling better. I definitely felt supported by the network and the production, so I used this time until I felt strong again and gathered my thoughts on what I wanted to do.

The reality TV star added that she took “a lot” of time off because she “never went away”.

“I really don't remember now because it was seven months ago, but no more than a week,” she said of her break. “We're doing an episode a week. If I was going to leave, I had to leave. And if I wanted to stay, I had to honor what I signed up for. So I took that into consideration. The pleaser in me didn't (fully) leave with it.
