Stop me if you've heard this before, but The latest season of The Boys was a complete bloodbath and left us on the darkest note yet. Viewers have come to expect the worst with Prime Video's superhero satire series, which always seems to take the most cynical route. In Season 4, this meant that the United States brought in a puppet president to execute Homelander (Anthony Starr) and impose martial law while our heroes were either scattered to the winds or captured. Oh, and if that wasn't bad enough, the mid-credits scene even teased the return of everyone's favorite freak, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles).
Well, if you thought things couldn't get any worse, you obviously haven't been paying enough attention. Season 5 has been confirmed as the final season of the show and is currently in the process of filming. Of course, since this isn't a hermetically sealed Marvel in the middle of a parking lot in Atlanta, that means photos have gone viral on social media during the shoot…and all signs point to some of the show's bleakest. plot yet. Please note that we can't actually embed photos of the set here – at least not without suing the wazoo – but there's certainly no law against binding to the above set photos. So definitely check them out here, X (formerly and forever known as Twitter) and more broadly here on reddit.
Now we can talk about what certainly looks like the main conflict of the next season: all the enemies of the fatherland, including many of our boys, are rounded up in fascist internment camps, renamed “Freedom Camps”. Additionally, the appearance of a vehicle dubbed the “Kix Mobile” seems to point to a new team of Supes aiming to poke fun at both Marvel and DC. Details below!
The Boys Season 5 may be introducing Teenage Kix
The world of The Boys is about to expand even more, and that may have something to do with it the well-received spin-off series “Gen V.” Season 5 promises (threats?) to go out with a bang, and as seen in last year's finale, the various college-aged characters introduced in “Gen V” are officially starting to intersect in the main storyline. But just when we thought they'd be the latest new additions to the upcoming fifth season, some set photos have caused another major stir among fans… though readers of Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson's original comics may recognize it.
Feast your eyes on Teenage Kix, a new team of Supes that represent this universe's answer to more popular versions like Teen Titans in the DC Universe or The New Avengers at Marvel (which looks set to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe). In the comics, Teenage Kix is basically meant to be a parody of all those teen-oriented vigilante collectives we've seen before. In this case, they are believed to be funded and operated by the sinister Vought Corporation. And, even more intriguingly, we actually know a couple of former members of this team: speedster A-Train, played by Jessie T. Usher in the series, and evil genius sister Cage (Susan Hayward), who was first introduced to the team. last season. (There's also Popklaw, played by Brittany Allen in Season 1 of the show, but I'd rather not dwell on her particularly gruesome death.)
Since “The Boys” haven't hesitated to play fast and loose with the comics in the past, it's theoretically possible that at least some of the members of “Gen V” will be included in the Teenage Kix adaptation. True, in the photos of the minibus set, the faces of the trio of new members are emblazoned on the side, none of whom we have met before. We'll have to wait and see exactly how they get 'The Boys' Season 5, which will debut sometime in 2026.
