Travis Kelce opens up about Taylor Swift's post-NFL retirement

The celebrity couple has been dating publicly since September 2023. After wrapping up her record-breaking Era Tour, Swift recently decided to spend more time in Nashville to stay closer to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

There was a lot of speculation that Travis Kelce was going to retire from the NFL, following his brother Jason Kelce. In addition to a cameo in “Happy Gilmore 2” and a full acting role in “Grotesquerie,” Kelce has also directed Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? game show.

While he wasn't at soccer practice, he also traveled the world to visit Swift during her Eras Tour in several different countries. However, now that the tour is over, he has continued to work with his brother on their hugely successful New Heights podcast. With all of this going on, many fans have speculated that Kelce might retire.

During a recent appearance The Stephen A. Smith ShowThe NFL star revealed that the “You Belong With Me” singer has “absolutely encouraged” him to “enjoy playing the game” and pursue a football career.

“She loves coming to Arrowhead, coming to the games and cheering me on. I have all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams,” he continued.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will turn 36 in October. With that in mind, he has considered retiring before this weekend's playoffs.

“A person changes every day,” Kelce said. “I love everything I do in this building. But at the end of the day, I don't have the extraordinary success on the field that I have individually. I'm excited for these next few games at Arrowhead to finish off this season.

“I will reassess it, as I always do. And I'll probably tell myself how much I love this thing and come back next year,” he continued. “It's something you have to keep in perspective, man. I never want to get to a point where I'm not helping this team win or I'm hurting my team more than I'm helping this team.”

He continued: “As long as I come out here and play good football and enjoy coming into the building with my guys every day, you're going to see me in a Chiefs uniform.”

On Jan. 13, Kelce discussed her relationship with the “Love Story” singer during an appearance Even the McAfee show. During the interview, host Pat McAfee asked if Swift still uses her as motivation for her songs.

“Let's say you're hanging out and you're having a little dinner, and all of a sudden the creative juices spark and you're sitting with an absolute beast who's going to become probably the most famous icon in the history of music… are you the motivator every time?” McAfee asked.

“Oh yeah,” Kelce replied. “You know that.”

When asked if Swift was working on an album about a “good” guy, Kelce said, “There might be some,” adding, “You know I can't say, you know I can't say… none of that.”

Kelce went on to say that he will “never get involved” in her creative process, but he wants to “support” it in any way he can. “I'm here to see where it can go,” he added.
