Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell have broken up.
Four years ago, Rachael took part in Matt's historic season The Bachelor and won.
Despite the controversy, the two remained together – with a temporary breakup in 2021.
Now it's over, with Matt sharing the news in the form of a prayer.

Early in the morning of Thursday, January 16, Matt James visited Instagram.
There, he shared a photo of himself with Rachael Kirkconnell.
The two broke up. Instead of simply announcing the news, he revealed it in the form of a Christian prayer.
“God the Father, give Rachael and me the strength to mend our broken hearts,” he asked.
“Give us peace regarding this decision to end our relationship that transcends the world's understanding,” Matt James' caption continued.
“Give our friends and family kindness and love to comfort us,” he asked. “And remind us that our joy comes from you, Lord.”
That same Thursday morning, even a few hours after Matt's post, Rachael hadn't posted anything like that.
His last photos and videos featuring Matt were from over a month earlier, on December 5, 2024.
However, she hasn't updated her Instagram page since then, so it's not like there were a series of Matt-less selfies that hinted at solo flings and perhaps a split.
Matt's last post featuring Rachael was on Wednesday, January 15. The video shows them both eating pizza and, presumably in exchange for money, suggesting that people willingly eat British food.
(Many of Matt's posts are short videos of him or Rachael or both eating food. We all love food, but this is quite the contrast to Rachael's romantic photo gallery from their four-year relationship.)
Aside from the 2021 hiatus, Matt and Rachael have been together since filming his season – in late 2020. Season 25 of The Bachelor began airing almost exactly four years ago, in early January 2021.
Is this another example of the “Bachelor” curse, so to speak?
Reality TV is a terrible place to get to know someone. It's an even worse place to fall in love. For what? Because people rarely act like their most authentic selves when they know they're being filmed.
However, Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell haven't broken up in four months. They split after four years together, with only one scandal-induced breakup during that time.
Compared to the back-to-back nightmares Becca Kufrin endured with, say, Arie and then Garrett, we'd say they got a pretty good deal out of it. A normal four-year relationship. This isn't a reality TV curse; it's just life.
