Rapper AND Maco has died. He was 32.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco,” the musician's family wrote on Friday, Dec. 27. The statement continued: “While we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate his extraordinary life that will continue to inspire and uplift others. Mako's influence, both as an artist and as a person, will forever remain in our hearts.

The cause of death of Mako, real name Benedict Chiayulam Ihesiba Jr., has not been released publicly. He was previously reported to have suffered a gunshot wound. TMZ earlier this month, it was claimed that police were called to Mako's Los Angeles home after a gunshot wound. After the trading post, Maco was later on taken to a local hospital for surgery.
