Wendy Williams' attorney clears the air about her health

As previously reported, Williams broke down during a phone call Wednesday as she described her isolated living situation. Her and her niece Alex— who was also on the call — reiterated that Wendy is not “permanently incapacitated.” These are the words star guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, November used to describe her health.

In her comments to TMZ, Roberta Kaplan advised fans not to be fooled by how Williams sounded on “TBC.” She explained that the star's dementia diagnosis is in place, which means her daily energy doesn't always look the same. Kaplan said the degenerative nature of dementia is why the court believes Wendy needs lifelong care and guardianship. As for guardian Sabrina, TMZ reports that conservatorship rules prevent her from speaking out.

Instead, Williams claimed she lives in a luxury prison guarded by locked elevators and nannies who give her up to seven pills a day. Her apartment consists of a bed, a chair, a TV she bought, and a bathroom. When she's not watching TV or listening to the radio, Wendy said she looks out her ONE window.

“I'm definitely isolated. And talking to these people who live here is not my cup of tea. They're good people, but I keep the door closed. I watch TV, I listen to the radio, I look out the window and I sit here while my life goes by . Do you know what I'm saying?”

Wendy Williams also said the system she was 'trapped' in was 'broken' and 'rigged a lot'. Her desire is to be with her family in Miami, especially for her father's 94th birthday next month. However, Wendy indicated that the final decision was in the hands of her guardian, Sabrina. Additionally, Williams expressed concern that Sabrina could retaliate for her transparency in the interview by taking away her limited phone privileges or preventing her from traveling to see her dad. She called conservatorship “a form of emotional abuse.”

Earlier this month, fans got their first glimpse of Wendy Williams in a hot minute. The guardian apparently allowed her to attend her only son's college graduation.
