Method Man doesn't give a damn! #FreeMethodMan is trending amid rumors that the rapper was arrested for Clifford punching his daughter's ex at the gym, but he denies getting into fights at Wu-Tang.
Of course, fans didn't hesitate to defend a star as beloved as Meth. The notorious former chronic smoker has a reputation for being quiet, so it was hard to imagine what would have sparked a feud on Staten Island when the allegations first made headlines.
Many assumed that whoever pushed Method Man to throw haymakers “how high” must have planned it. And it seemed increasingly plausible after the revelation that the alleged victim had dated the Starz star's daughter. However, TMZ reports he denies all allegations of assault or arrest. So how did this story conquer the internet in the first place?
Thursday, the New York Post reported that a man complained to cops that 53-year-old “Bring The Pain” punched him in the face seven times “with a closed fist.” Patrick Sokoya cited a decade-old dating history with the Wu-Tang titan's daughter for the beef and alleged beating.
Sokoya claimed he had gone to the gym to work out and had been working out when they bumped into each other again last week. The alleged Method Man, 28, left him dizzy and in pain over the Staten Island feud, but he refused to seek medical attention. Despite false reports of an arrest, the New York Police never arrested the Power: Book II actor.
“Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of any arrests by any law enforcement agency,” a representative for Method Man said, refuting the claims.
Well, it looks like there's nothing to see here, but that hasn't stopped the internet from going wild with reactions. Check out the comedic comments on Method Man's rumored “Tical” punches after the flip.
