Several rappers have recently come under fire for performing at a Trump inauguration ceremony, including Soulja Boy. However, the Atlanta rapper isn't bothered by the backlash and says he would do it again if the price was right.
As previously reported, Soulja Boy, along with Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and Nelly, performed at the first ever Crypto Ball. President-elect Trump was not at the event, but it was supposed to celebrate his upcoming inauguration. Nevertheless, fans and social media users were shocked to see the three rappers present, especially since they had publicly criticized the criminal and his policies.
Despite the ridicule, Soulja Boy remains firm on his decision to attend and perform. He recently took to Instagram Live to discuss his appearance and rationalize his seemingly depressed behavior.
“They bought me a bag. Obama never put money in my fucking pockets, nigga. Kamala never put money in my fucking pockets, nigga. Trump put money in my pocket, nigga,” he claimed.
He continued to defend his actions by claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris never called him to perform while she was on the campaign trail. He also blames former President Barack Obama, saying he never called either. Additionally, he stood alongside his fellow Uncle Tom rappers, informing viewers that Trump was never in the building.
“Kamala, you didn’t even win, bitch,” he said. “Suck my shit.” You want me to not answer the phone for the fucking president? This n***a is the president of the fucking king of the United States. Trump wasn't even there. It wasn't even a Trump event. It was the Crypto Ball for crypto.
He also assured viewers that he had no regrets about attending and performing at the Trump celebration event.
“I’ll do it again.”
Soulja Boy says the White House cheated on him
Although the Love and Hip Hop Hollywood alum seemingly stood firm on his stance, later in the live stream he admitted he didn't have all the information about the event. He says he was split “50/50” on whether or not he should play.
“But I’m not going to lie. But these people tried to deceive me,” he said as his smoke detector went off. “Halfway, I said to myself: 'guy, fuck this negro Trump.' I ain’t fuckin’ with that nigga,” and then halfway through, I was like, “Nigga, president. » Do you feel me? But whatever, guy … The negro was not there.
Soulja Boy also candidly admitted that the money was worth it and that he needed it.
“I needed the money, man, I’m not going to lie,” he explained, followed by laughter. “I need this bag, dog. What did you want me to do?
In response to a fan who seemed to suggest that a hit song would make his fans forgive him, Soulja Boy said, “Alright, I got you all, man.” If I drop a hit song, will you forgive me for this shit?
However, most fans and Instagram commenters are unimpressed with Soulja's explanation.
@mlca1234 commented “Easily bought, keep the same energy when money doesn't come.”
Another user wrote: “Being easily bought is not flexibility…. You can never be trusted knowing that you will fold for a dollar.
