On Tuesday, January 21, Instagram user @livebitez took to the platform to share what appeared to be a live shots recorded from the crowd at the inaugural ball. In the video, Nelly is seen taking the stage as an announcer's voice appears to share the rapper's life story with the crowd.
Additionally, the narrative explained that Nellie was born on a military base in Austin, Texas and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally, the narrative shared that various members of Nellie's family had served in the armed forces.
“Only in America can you come from the streets of St. Louis to the White House,” says the narration before Nellie's performance begins.

Ahead of his appearance at Donald Trump's inaugural ball, he spoke more about his decision
Before taking the stage, Nellie revealed her decision once again, speaking to ABC News. The rapper reiterated that he thinks it's an “honor” to perform for the president, and apparently he “never thought” it would be possible.
“It's not political for me. I'm done with the political part. He won, and growing up I was taught to respect the office, so Nellie is here,” he said.
In addition, Nelly explained why he did not back down from the initial criticism he received for his choice.
