Demi Lovato shares a message of hope and encouragement.
As a non-binary and pansexual American, she knows how millions of people are feeling in the wake of Trump's inauguration.
Demi knows how other people feel because they feel the same way.
Many of her followers need an affirming message right now. When things seem hopeless, it's more important than ever to have hope.
In 2025 and beyond, Demi Lovato supports the trans community
Following Donald Trump's return to power, Demi shared a message about their Instagram History.
“If you are trans or non-binary like me, know that I see you, I feel you,” she began. “I’m with you.”
Demi went on to assert, “You are validated, you are loved, and you are not alone.”
Asset issued an executive order that serves to roll back the rights of transgender Americans. The goal is to to erase legal recognition of the trans community and trans individuals everywhere, from legal documents to anti-discrimination protections and beyond.
“No one can take away our identity,” Demi Lovato said in her message. “And no one can tell us who we are or not.”
She then encouraged her followers: “We will get through this. I love you.”
In 2021, Demi Lovato came out as non-binary
Demi found herself embroiled in an ill-advised engagement in 2020. They would later admit that it also interrupted their journey of self-discovery on topics like gender.
A year later, in May 2021, she was ready to come out as non-binary.
Non-binary people like Demi are part of the transgender group. Simply put, a nonbinary person does not fit into the narrow confines of a gender binary that has prevailed in several dominant cultures over the past few centuries.
Although Demi initially used their pronouns, they also use their pronouns.
As she later explained, she found trying to educate people about something as simple as a pronoun accommodation “exhausting.”
It is deeply sad – but sadly not uncommon – that someone would adjust their pronouns rather than go to the trouble of correcting the people who get them wrong. And it is weird that someone as famous as Demi Lovato had to face the same challenge as your non-binary neighbor, your gaming buddy, or your delivery driver. Celebrity status is not almighty.
In many ways, Demi Lovato will face the same legal obstacles as other trans Americans as their own government works to strip millions of Americans of their basic rights and dignity. For example, Demi's passport and other documents will be subject to the same restrictions.
However, as advocacy groups advise the trans community to take precautions Now that Trump is back in power, not everything will apply to Demi. She is a a single village considerable financial resources.
Many of us would do well to offer financial support to anyone who, without federal protection, must suddenly flee their state to one that defends their legal rights. We hope Demi will help her community where possible. Tangible support is important.
