While the uniforms were pretty, by Ronald D. Moore Battlestar Galactica reboot isn't a show mostly remembered for its sci-fi fashion. However, there was one major exception: the slim red dress worn by the sultry Cylon known only as Six. She was played to perfection by Tricia Helfer, who recently donned the red dress in celebration of the ultimate fan project: a full-scale replica of Barry Armstrong's Viper starfighter, flown on the show by pilots like Starbuck.

Armstrong has been using his Facebook page, Baz Builds, to provide constant updates on his Viper project. It's more than just a static copy, though that alone would still be insanely impressive. However, his Viper has lights, sounds, and moving parts, and thanks to a series of fun coincidences (or maybe it's the will of the Kobold lords?), he got a Tricia Helfer video shout-out along with the color red. a dress that is tanned in the mind Battlestar Galactica fans all over the world.

Understandably, Barry Armstrong has amassed quite a following on his Facebook page… at the time of writing it has around 10,400 people following it, allowing them to get updates on the project and participate in some deeply nerdy discussions. Armstrong is an Australian military veteran, and on Dec. 21 his page received a message from Mitchell Bell, a Marine with a “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon”-style connection to Galacticathe hottest star. He wrote about how his “good Marine brother, Freddie Joe Farnsworth, worked together Tricia Helfer,” and this fellow veteran was able to put Bell in touch with Helfer.

To hear Bell tell it, the actor “was blown away by your passion for the details” of the stunning project, and that was enough for him to get his shot. He “humbly asked for a shout-out” to Baz, which led to her posting the video Instagram. Tricia Helfer captioned “Merry Christmas to a friend of a friend” in reference to his Viper project before entering the frame wearing her iconic red dress.

If you only know the actor from her serious and scary villain role Battlestar Galacticayou might be surprised at how adorably silly this video is. When she first comes into frame, she lets out a cat-like growl as her own science fiction sound effect. Then, in an affecting upper voice, she tells us exactly what she's doing on screen: “Number Six in front of the Christmas tree!”

After getting all cute and silly in her legendary red dress, Tricia Helfer flawlessly declared that she was “trying to amuse herself” and then mentioned Baz by name. Specifically, she hoped that “Baz enjoyed his Merry Christmas from Mitch.” As for the rest of the fandom, they loved the video for other reasons, with fans on Instagram not just commenting on how stunning Helfer still looks and how well she still pulls off that saucy dress.

On the surface level, it's easy to look at all of this as just eye candy. After all, seeing both a full-size Viper replica and Tricia Helfer in a red dress gives us all one very sweet Christmas treat. However, this whole series of events is very instructive for a number of other reasons, including how powerful it is Battlestar Galactica the fandom is still there. The Peacock's planned reboot may be more serious for Starbuck, but it's great to know there's still so much passion for the 2003 show that helped make Tricia Helfer famous.

Tricia Helfer

When it comes to this actor, it's impossible to look at it all without realizing what a graceful and elegant performer she really is. Tricia Helfer didn't even have to react, much less make our heads explode as she dusted off her red dress. More than two decades after Ronald D. Moore Battlestar Galactica In the premiere, Helfer proved that she still has an amazing amount of respect for the passionate fans who helped put the show on the map.

The only downside to all of this is that Barry Armstrong is making us question our lazy holidays. It looks like we've done nothing more than stuff our faces and hit the DVR, and this man here is building life-size replicas that would put most Hollywood prop builders to shame. Now, though, we might have the greatest motivation to do something meaningful with our lives: the knowledge that if it's cool enough, Tricia Helfer might record sexy video just for us.

That's what we all say. Or, in the spirit of the season, ho, ho, ho we all say.
