Adam Brody and Leighton Meester have 'de facto separate toilets'

Adam Brody has been open about living arrangements with his wife Leighton Mester.

“We have de facto separate toilets,” Brodie, 45, said Access Hollywood at 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5. “I walk into the office. That's nice. One layer away from the kids and one layer deeper with privacy.

Meester, 38, seemed confused by her husband's remark. “I just didn't think about the toilet situation,” she said. “Never crossed my mind.”

Meester attended the awards ceremony The Beverly Hilton honoring Brody, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series Comedy for his role in Nobody wants that. Reflecting on his nomination, Brody recalled getting the news while with Meester. “I received calls, but I honestly don't remember calling anyone. We slept together so it was nice. I don't think I called anybody,” Brody said when asked who was the first person he contacted on the phone.

Before Brody earned a hint about her performance, Meester evaluated whether she thought the show would be successful before the release.

“I mean, I don't know if I can say,” she said. “I think we watched it together before it came out and I thought, 'It's working.' It works. It's so good.' And you say, “Yes, yes.” … I think there's no way of knowing, especially now that you're streaming, you can't tell. And then it came out and it was like, “Okay.”

Meester called after watching the show Brody's kiss with Costar Kristen Bell “great.” Brody, in turn, said Mester “taught me.” He added: “She gets the good stuff, it's not even like the A material.”

Brody and Meester tied the knot in February 2014 and welcomed daughter Arlo, 9, and son, 4, whose name has not been released. Although the couple has largely kept their romance private, Brody shared a rare glimpse into their relationship a month before the Golden Globes.

“Despite the state of the world, I feel like I'm living my best life,” he told the British magazine Stylist in December 2024. “I have a beautiful, dreamy family life. I have a good work-life balance and I get to spend a lot of time with my children. I'm in that really great middle age period where I'm old enough to have seniority and job security, but still have enough of my body to be active and do whatever I want. I'm a lucky guy. “
