Diddy accused of sex trafficking and racketeering
After Combs was arrested based on the sealed indictment, the indictment was unsealed on September 17.
The 54-year-old was charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; as well as transportation to engage in prostitution, according to court documents obtained by NBC News.
The indictment alleges that Combs “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to gratify his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct” for more than a decade, the prosecutors saying this alleged behavior began around 2008.
“To do this,” the documents said, “Combs relied on the employees, resources and influence of the multifaceted business empire he directed and controlled – creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, corruption, and obstruction of justice.
According to NBC NewsCombs pleaded not guilty and was denied bail.
“He will fight with all his energy and all his strength,” his lawyer said. Marc Agnifilo told reporters outside the courthouse before the arraignment, “and the full confidence of his lawyers.”
