Although the state “strongly disagrees” with the judge's decision to dismiss the charges against Baldwin and deny the suppression of evidence, they are ready to end the more than three-year-old case against the actor.

“This has always been about seeking justice for Halyn Hutchins,” Morrissey said. “We regret that Mr. Baldwin will not be prosecuted for the role he played in the death of Halyn Hutchins and our withdrawal. We are doing so in the hope that the pending lawsuits will bring some measure of justice to the family of Halyn Hutchins.

The family of Halina Hutchins was not happy with the news that the actor will no longer have to go behind bars for his role in her death. Attorney Gloria Allred, who is representing Hutchins' mother, father and sister in the civil suit against Baldwin and other “Rust” producers, released a statement about the decision on Christmas Eve.

“There was no justice because the jury couldn't hear the evidence,” Allred said at a press conference took place in Los Angeles, insisting the “Supercell” actor “was responsible and he is responsible.”
