Alison Holker is doubling down on her decision to expose her dead husband Steven's 'witch' boss drug addiction
Alison Holker is defending her decision to open up about her late husband Steven 'TWitch' Boss's drug addiction after a backlash on social media.
In an emotional interview with People magazineThe 36-year-old dancer and choreographer, who tragically lost her husband to suicide in December 2022, shared intimate details about his struggles with mental health, childhood trauma and her efforts to help others through speaking out.
Alison Holker recent remarks have sparked a wave of criticism from social media users, including some in the dance community. One dancer commented on a person's Instagram post that featured Allison interview, stating, “This whole thing upset me. He is gone. Why tear up that word?” Another comment expressing support Allison new relationship with Adam Edmund, also questioned the timing of her revelations. “That salary wasn't worth dishonoring his name,” the commenter wrote.
Alisonhowever, stood his ground and responded to criticism with sympathy. She replied: “I will always love you. Just trying to help people feel safe, asking for help and support. Alison also reposted several supportive Instagram stories from her followers, including one that read: “Sharing this powerful message to remind us all how important it is to have open conversations about mental health.”
Her memoir reveals personal information
In his People interview Alisonwho has three children with Steven — Wesley, 16, Maddox, 8, and Zaya, 5 — described discovering a “cornucopia” of drugs hidden in Steven's closet days before his funeral. She also spoke about finding his journal entries, which included references to being sexually abused by a male figure as a child.
“I really hope that people who are dealing with the same thing will help you come out of the shadows and (know) that you're going to be okay.” Alison said, reflecting on how these revelations about her husband's hidden pain helped her better understand his struggles. She admitted it Stephen silently struggled with her mental health, which left her heartbroken. “It's hard to imagine that he never opened up to anyone and wanted to face it, come through on the other side,” she added.
Alison has made it her mission to raise awareness of mental health issues, especially among men, and has been vocal about her journey to healing. “I've been fortunate enough to have resources that have helped me and now I'm collaborative,” she explained. “I've learned that there are so many other resources that a lot of people don't know about. I've had so many people reach out to me to talk, and if I've learned anything, it's that mental health can affect anyone at any point in their life.
The response of family and friends
Despite Allison in an effort to raise awareness and support, her outspokenness has sparked backlash from some of Steven's family and friends. Steven's brother Dre Rose and close friend Courtney Ann Platt have publicly criticized Ellison for revealing personal details about Steven's life in her interview and upcoming memoir. This far awaydue for release in February.
Kourtney, who claimed to have been close to the pair during their relationship, voiced her disapproval in a heated Instagram post, calling Alison's actions 'tacky', 'indiscriminate' and 'opportunistic'. She claimed that members of Stephen the family had to sign an NDA to attend his funeral and the accused Alison for ill-treatment of the mother. Courtney also criticized the memoir, calling it an attempt to tarnish Stephen's legacy. “In doing so, the 'So You Think You Can Dance' beer attempts to dim the bright, loyal, loving, light that was your husband, my friend,” she wrote.
Dre Rose, Steven's brother, also showed support for Kourtney's comments, sharing a post on her Instagram Story with the caption: “No lie…”
Moving on and healing
Despite public backlash, Alison remains focused on his healing journey and his mission to raise awareness of mental health. She recently made headlines when she shared a photo of her daughter Wesley going to her high school dance in October 2023. She also shared her first dance video since then. Stephen death featuring Wesley in a TikTok video for a remix of “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic.
