Andi Dorfman Explains Why Her Newborn Daughter Is 'Fully Fed'

Andy Dorfman has taken to social media to explain why she newborn daughterHarper, is “completely formula fed.”

Dorfman, 37, who gave birth to her first child, lives with her husband Blaine Hart20 Dec 2024 Thursday January 9 candidly explained her feeding method through a series of Instagram stories.

After revealing that fans had DMed her to find out if she was breastfeeding, the ex Bachelorette detailed her situation.

“Well, first and foremost, my sister and I were both formula-fed babies. So I guess that was always in my plan,” Dorfman said. “And then I was going to use a breast pump to feed her breast milk, and that way I knew how much she was getting.”

Dorfman said her baby's unexpected stay in the NICU, where Harper was formula-fed, changed her feeding plans.

“So I tried to pump while I was in the hospital, but my milk wasn't coming in yet,” Dorfman continued. “She actually did really well with formula so we brought a lot of it home from the hospital. I tried to pump a couple of times when we were home and my milk supply hadn't come in yet.

Dorfman continued, “So we just stuck with the formula. And then a big wrench was thrown in the plans — as you know, I had to do the surgery myself. So I guess that stopped the pumping as well. The reality TV star referred to her return to the hospital Cleveland Clinic after she was discharged after giving birth to two hematomas, which are closed wounds from which pools of blood cannot drain.

Dorfman, who married Hart in Italy in May 2023, said she tried to pump “one or two more times” but was unable to produce milk.

“The weird thing is that I've never had any pain,” Dorfman added. “I didn't have any swelling, I didn't have the side effects that people talk about when they stop pumping. I just skipped it. I don't know if it's because my milk supply just never came in and wasn't going to, or if I missed an opportunity, or to be honest, it was just a plan building its own plan. But here we are. “

Dorfman added that Harper is thriving as she approaches one month in the world. “I hope this story helps someone,” Dorfman said. “I don't know why there's so much judgment and prejudice when it comes to breastfeeding or formula feeding or not doing one or the other. But that's my story. We're sticking with it.”
