We've covered quite a bit of crazy news these days, but never anything like this…

According to NBCChicagoA Chicago Police The officer was forced to play animal control professional when a call came in about a coyote intent on spending time in the refrigerator of a local ALDI grocery store. Footage of the incident has now gone viral online and people are shocked to find not a possum or a dog, but an entire coyote ripped from produce shelves.

We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried…

Eventually, Chicago Animal Care and Control arrived on scene to safely remove the animal, but suffice to say the shoppers were in for a real scare.

“The animal is currently in our facility awaiting transfer to our wildlife rehabilitation partner, Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation,” CACC said in a statement to NBC Chicago. “The coyote does not appear injured, but Flint Creek will conduct an assessment to confirm its health status before releasing it into the wild if deemed appropriate.”

Coyotes are generally considered a non-threat to humans, but no one wants to face a wild animal and get rabies or God only knows.

Fortunately, no one was injured and the animal did not have to suffer.
