As veterans of TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment), SZA and Kendrick Lamar have collaborated on several occasions. Their collaborations have spawned many fan favorites and chart hits. However, the two have never created a full-length project together and fans are desperate to hear one.

As previously reported, Lamar released his sixth studio album, GNX, in November, with SZA on two songs, including “Luther.” Shortly after, SZA released LANAthe deluxe version of his second album, SOS. Kendrick was featured in “30 for 30” and immediately became a star of the project. Music listeners have praised the hip-hop/R&B duo's most recent collaborations, which may explain the growing demand for a joint album.

To the surprise of many fans, SZA agrees that she and Lamar should work together on a full-length project. The “Kill Bill” singer reposted a fan's video on his Instagram story, in which they asked for a joint album. The report appears to confirm that SZA is on board. She captioned the post: “I gotta ask the big guy,” referring to the “Not Like Us” rapper. However, Lamar has remained silent on the subject.

Even if the two don't release a joint album, fans can prepare to see more together. In November, following the release of GNXSZA and Kendrick announced the Grand national tour and will hit the road in April 2025, making at least 23 stops.

SZA parts ways with manager

Punch, co-chairman of TDE, has long been SZA's career manager. However, the two abruptly ended their working relationship just days after the release of LANA. As CHIEF reported, the R&B singer began teasing the SOS deluxe album in late 2023, although no release date has ever been announced. Finally, it was announced that LANA would be released on December 20 at midnight. Nevertheless, the release time has come, and still no LANA. Punch later revealed that the delay was his fault, but no further details were given.

The album was made available later that day on December 20, and fans quickly forgave the singer for the debacle. Nonetheless, SZA wanted to add more songs to the project. She posted screenshots of her conversations with Punch, showing her advice to let the current version “breathe for at least a week.”

Shortly after the conversations were published, SZA responded to a fan who wondered about the additional songs and confirmed that Punch was no longer her manager.

“They were punchy tracks, and I’ve talked about releasing them together before. Obviously he moved away abruptly, so sorting out the abandonments was a bit tricky. Please give me a second…they will be loaded,” she wrote.

However, she clarified that she still has respect for her former manager.

“And to be clear, I deeply love punch!” NO ONE should attack him or be cruel on my behalf. Sometimes people break up and that’s OK,” she said.

She also said it wasn't a celebration, even though fans felt like Punch was holding her back.

“Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era,” she continued. “I wish him the best whatever his choices.”
