How Angelina Jolie and son Knox are helping people in the Los Angeles fires

As wildfires continue to ravage the Los Angeles area, Angelina Jolie and her son Knox does everything possible to help.

Jolie, 49, and Knox, 16, were spotted at a grocery store stocking up on essentials, including water, according to a story posted by Daily mail on Friday, January 10.

“We have people in our house,” she said as she packed her trunk in a video obtained by the outlet. When asked if she plans to donate to relief efforts, she said: “Yes, I will, at the moment I am taking care of people close to me and keeping them in my house.”

Knox is one of six children Jolie shares with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. The exes are also parents to sons Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21, and daughters Zahara, 20, Sheila, 18, and Knox's twin sister Vivienne.

The fire crisis Los Angeles County has been raging since Tuesday, Jan. 7, when high winds fueled fast-burning brush fires that have continued to spread in an area that hasn't seen significant rainfall in months.

By Friday, January 10, 10 people had died, 9,000 structures had been damaged and 150,000 people were under mandatory evacuation orders, according to Los Angeles Times. Jolie's $25 million Los Feliz home remains outside the evacuation zones.

Many other celebrities aren't so lucky because of the fires, and many of them live in the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, Heidi Monday and Spencer Pratt, billy crystal, Mel Gibson and Milo Ventimiglia are among the celebrities who have confirmed they have lost their homes.

“Sitting with my family, watching the news and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live television is something no one should ever have to experience,” Hilton wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “This home was where we made so many precious memories. This is where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of lifelong memories with London.

Los Angeles has had some scary natural weather and its star community has been hit hard. Meanwhile, Jolie isn't the only celebrity lending a helping hand. Jamie Lee Curtis announced on Thursday that it is donating $1 million aid measures. Sharon Stone is partnering with LA store The Coop to collect donations for displaced people, and Halle Berry said he was donating his “entire closet.”

In general CBS News reports that more than 200,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes, and an additional 166,000 people have received evacuation warnings.
