For years, Kotb has talked about the idea of adopting again, revealing that the process was delayed a bit during the coronavirus pandemic. Still, “I haven't closed the door,” she said during her appearance on Jamie Kern's show in Lima in August 2024. “I'm getting signs. I kept all of our baby stuff, everything, because here's the truth about life: I keep meeting people who remind you that your heart's capacity to grow is beyond measure.”
And now that she's moving away from Todaybecause, as she said, “my daughters and my mother need and deserve more of my time”, there is no time like the present.
The decision to expand her family was relatively easy, she shared with DeGeneres in 2020.
“I was scribbling in my journal and asking myself this question,” she explained. “And I wrote in there, 'I wonder if we should do this.' And then I wrote, “Do we have enough love?” And I wrote, “Yes.” And I said, “Do we have enough time?” .And I said, “Would our family be any better?” I wrote, “Yes.”
