Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Divorce: Who Won?

When Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce, they took their personal belongings with them.

Former formals ended their marriage on Monday, January 6, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly. In doing so, the two parties “agreed to divide all assets and liabilities” to avoid further litigation and expense.

Lopez, 55, is keeping all of her personal possessions and earnings from the date of the divorce — April 26, 2024 — as well as half of their bank accounts. Affleck, 52, gets the same. According to the settlement agreement, they will also part with their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion, which is now on the market, but the specific terms of the agreement are under wraps.

During the divorce, Lopez is keeping her clothing, jewelry and “various personal effects in her possession, custody or control,” as well as any assets she owns “individually or in businesses of which (Lopez) is the sole owner, member, or shareholder.”

Meanwhile, Affleck maintains his interest in the production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded Matt Damon in November 2022. The agreement states that he will “pay, indemnify and hold (Lopez) harmless from and against any and all liabilities, claims, debts, actions, causes of action and/or tax liabilities related to” the company.

In September, they settled their divorce through mediation. Lopez requested that “Affleck” be removed from her last name and her legal name restored to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.

Actress filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024. Instead of asking an attorney to file the documents on her behalf, Lopez filed them herself two year anniversary for the couple's wedding in Georgia, even though their divorce date is several months earlier.

At the time, a celebrity divorce attorney Chris Melcher suggested in an interview with We that Lopez's decision to file without an attorney was “intended to send a message that this is not going to be a fight.” Melcher argued that the duo had probably “worked out most of (the) issues before going public with the application.”

Lopez and Affleck have a long history. They met on the set of a box office bomb Lilies in 2001 and got engaged in November 2002. They walked down the aisle in September 2003, but called off their wedding day before the ceremony. They confirmed their divorce in January 2004.

Sparks reignited when the couple – known as the 'Bennifers' – rekindled their relationship in May 2021 and got engaged again in April 2022. They exchanged vows in Vegas that July and had a second ceremony the following month in Georgia.

Lopez was previously married to Hey Noah from 1997 to 1998, Chris Judd from 2001 to 2003 and Mark Anthony — with whom she has twins Max and Emme — from 2004 to 2014. Affleck, on the other hand, was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and they are raising their three children Violeta, Serafina and Samuel.

In May 2024, rumors of marital problems began to swirl after Lopez and Affleck were not seen together in public for 47 days. We soon confirmed it Affleck had moved out from their homes.
