Jim Jones supports Drake's defamation lawsuit against UMG

Jim Jones defends Drake in his defamation lawsuit against UMG, calling him “James Bond Sh*t.”

Although the anniversary of Kendrick Lamar and Drake's historic rap battle is approaching, it may be overshadowed by Drake's defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group. Everyone in hip-hop has strong opinions on the lawsuit, with most calling it the “Karen movement” and “not hip-hop.”

According to ComplexHowever, Drake has the support of Jim Jones. While promoting his next single on DMAL's BNF podcast, Jones applauded Drake for filing the lawsuit while saying the rapper is in “a different field” and that hip-hop purists “think bad about that shit.”

“He's not personally suing Kendrick Lamar, which is what everyone seems to think this lawsuit is about,” Jones said 34 minutes into the interview. “He didn’t go after Kendrick Lamar. He sued UMG, which is the biggest company with the biggest bag, nigga. You think I won't sue Amazon if I get the chance? We sue everybody, nigga. Are there any of these companies that I have the chance, playing at this level, to sue for billions? I'm going there.

According to Jim Jones, Drizzy suing UMG and not Kendrick is more like Tracy Morgan suing Walmart for her 2014 car accident.

“So how could we not be happy that someone received a bag from one of the biggest companies that raped everyone anyway? ” asked Jones, adding that he thought people would applaud the move if it instead involved a “coalition” of multiple artists.

Jones then lambasted people who disapproved of the lawsuit, saying they weren't seeing the situation correctly.

“You all associate fucking Brussels sprouts with apples,” he said. “They’re two totally different things.”

Ultimately, Jim Jones said the lawsuit was “none of his business.” The conflict between Drake and Kendrick has been a recurring topic since early 2024, and it isn't slowing down anytime soon.

However, if Drake somehow gets financial compensation for the “Not Like Us” slander he endured, the conversation will never end. This could forever change hip-hop battles in the future.
