Kat Dennings recalls working with Bob Saget for 3 years after his death

Shifting gears star Kat Dennings reflected on the time she worked with Bob Saget three years after his death.

Dennings, 38, said Saget was “lovely” to work with and recalled his “protective” nature in an interview with People published on Saturday, January 19th.

The pair worked together in 2001, when Dennings was 15 and Saget was 44. They played father-daughter duo Matt and Sarah Stewart on the show. Parenting Dadwhich ran for one season.

“God bless him. I'm so sad that he's gone,” Dennings continued.

“I remember he was very protective of me because I was a young actress and he had daughters. So he was very sweet to me, very protective and very kind,” she added. “I have only very, very fond memories of him.”

Saget was best known for playing Danny Tanner Full house from 1987 to 1995 and later reprized the role Fuller House from 2016 to 2020. He also gave a special mention to Ted how i met your mother and hosted America's Funniest Home Videos for almost 200 episodes.

Sage died unexpectedly On January 9, 2022 at the age of 65. The cause of his death was later revealed to be blunt force trauma to the head after an unseen fall.

Dennings' recent interview isn't the first time she's spoken about Saget's death.

When news of the star's death first emerged, Denning paid his respects on social media. She wrote on Twitter, now X: “Oh my god. Bob Saget!!! Favorite man.”

“I was his TV daughter for one season and he was always so kind and protective. So sorry for his family,” she added.

Since working with Saget, Denning has enjoyed notable roles in TV and film. She played Max Black in the sitcom 2 broken girlswhich ran from 2011 to 2017, then starred in the film as Darcy Lewis. Thor movies and WandaVision.

More recently, Denning played opposite Tim Allen in the new comedy Shifting gears. Talking to Us Weekly earlier this month, Dennings said she had an “instant” connection with Allen, who plays her father on the show.

“For some reason it worked pretty instantly — maybe it's because I've grown up watching him so much of my life, but it just worked. It felt very organic,” she recalled.

“And as (filming has) progressed, our scenes are so funny, if I do say so myself. Arguments are my favorite scenes to play because I'm not scared. None of us have any fear. We just go for it and it's so much fun.
