Kate Beckinsale opens up about abuse to support Blake Lively

Kate Beckinsale recently took to Instagram to share a deeply personal video recounting several incidents of harassment and abuse she experienced while working on various film sets while supporting Blake Lively.

Lively, who has acted and worked Justin Baldoni's direction in the film adaptation of “It Ends With Us” has accused him of sexual harassment during production. According to the lawsuit, Baldoni allegedly showed Lively explicit images and videos and made inappropriate inquiries about her personal sex life. The complaint also alleges that Baldoni retaliated against Lively after her performance by launching a smear campaign aimed at damaging her professional and personal reputation.

As more details emerge, more celebrities are speaking out in support of Blake Lively, including Kate Beckinsale, who shared her harrowing experience.

In a video shared online, Beckinsale recounted being called “ka c—nt” just because she talked about a man who was “drunk every day” on set.

“He went through something. I have sympathy for him, but I waited, like the crew, for six hours a day for him to learn his lines,” recalls the actress. give me a bike to ride around the studio while I wait. And then of course I was called c-nt and b-tch. I was called “stupid” during the shoot b-tch”.”

She then revealed that there were not one, but two different sets where she “had such a strict diet and exercise program” that she “all missed my periods.”

While working on the action film, Beckinsale said that a man physically hurt her during a fight scene. However, when she revealed her injury, she found herself isolated from the rest of the cast.

“There's a certain type of actor who gets excited about being able to legitimately hurt a woman in a fight,” the actress explained. “And I was damaged to the point where an MRI proved it. I was gassed up and made to feel like I was the problem, and blamed and excluded from dinner as soon as I mentioned there was a problem.

Beckinsale then dropped the bombshell that she was “forced” by her publicist to film “the day after I had a miscarriage”.

“I said, 'I can't. I'm bleeding. I don't want to go and change clothes in front of strangers and do a photo shoot. I was bleeding from a miscarriage,” she explained. “She said, 'You're going to have to or you're going to be sued.

“It's happening. It goes on forever. I have 47 million stories like that,” the actress said, shedding light on the harassment women often face on set. “I was 18 years old and I felt with someone I really trusted. I went to the lead actress, who was known as a supporter of women, and told her that this was happening and was told, “No, it wasn't.” I went to another actress and said that this man had just assaulted me and said, “No, you haven't been.”

She then went on to reveal how a woman in the industry doesn't let you mention it because if you do, you're embarrassed.

“It has to be; you absorb it and somehow you're an omite,” she said. “This has to stop. I'm grateful to Blake Lively for pointing out that this isn't an archaic problem that no one is dealing with. It's ongoing. When that happens, the machine is in place to destroy you completely.”

In the caption of her video, Beckinsale explained that:

“Everybody in every industry should be taken seriously and not punished if something serious happens to them at work and I think the difference in our industry is that it becomes something that is played out in the public space and it can be very unpleasant .very hard to take and because it's so public and so globally public and clickbait very quickly, it can also destroy someone's livelihood, mental health and reputation, and it can be very hard to recover from.”

She later admitted that “it's very, very, very easy to incite hatred against actresses, as was evident in the transcripts of the conversations between publicists and crisis teams involved in this case.” Beckinsale added that social media also plays a rolesomething like that Amber Heard has previously spoken about.

At the end of her lengthy caption, the actress mentioned Blake Lively's lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.

“I don't want anyone, man or woman, who has a legitimate grievance to be held against them in any industry, anywhere, and I'm bringing this up with Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni because our industry makes things more visible because the press and the public consciously involved and led to an opinion that they do not realize is deliberate.
