Kate Middleton is in remission, continues to suffer side effects

After announcing to the world in September that she had completed chemotherapy treatments, Princess Kate Middleton is in remission.

In Instagram post On Tuesday, January 14, Middleton wrote: “I wanted to take this opportunity to thank The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well over the last year.”

“My heartfelt thanks go out to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have overcome everything,” the princess continued. “We couldn't have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my patient status has been outstanding.

“In my new role as joint patron of the Royal Marsden, I hope that by supporting ground-breaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we can save many more lives and transform the experience of all those affected by cancer.”

“It's a relief to be in remission now,” she shared. “And I'm still focused on recovery. As anyone who's been diagnosed with cancer will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.

In a rare public outing this month, Kate and Prince William visited the hospital where she underwent cancer treatment after receiving the diagnosis in early 2024.

During her visit Daily mail reports that Kate spoke with staff and other patients in the midst of their cancer battle.

In one of the conversations, the princess became honest about the side effects of various cancer treatments.

“You think the treatment is over, go on with those … daily tasks, but it's still like a real challenge,” she told hospital staff.

“And speaking … the words completely disappear … realizing that as a patient, yes, there are side effects to the treatment, but there are actually more long-term side effects.”

Kate went on to say how important it is to continue holistic care “through the good days and the bad.” Daily mail messages.

“I think it's sometimes about the loved ones around us. They need support as much as I do as a patient.

Speaking to a current patient, Kate said: “The resilience you need to get through is, firstly, a little taste of what you've been through… It's to keep coming back… to be as positive as you are. Treatment is really so different and so varied that it affects families differently.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said Kate decided to visit the Royal Marsden Hospital “both to show her gratitude to the incredible team and to highlight the world-leading care and treatment provided by Marsden”.

In her September videoKate explained that “the last nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and unknown paths.

“Most of all, this time has reminded William and I to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life,” she continued, “that so many of us often take for granted. To simply love and be loved.”
