As he celebrates his 70th birthday, Kevin Costner pays tribute to Whitney Houston.
Amid relationship speculation about Costner, some of his most notable relationships weren't romantic.
Today, the veteran actor marked a milestone birthday.
He also becomes nostalgic for what he and Whitney Houston meant to each other.

On Saturday January 18, Kevin Costner celebrated his birthday. The critically acclaimed actor is now 70 years old.
To celebrate his birthday, he went to his house Instagram Story to share a throwback photo. This blast from the past dates back to the filming of the 1992 film, The bodyguard.
Memorably, Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston starred in the iconic romantic thriller. “This photo reminds me how lucky I am to celebrate another birthday,” Costner wrote. “We lost such a light when we lost Whitney.”
Costner's Story post actually shared an existing photo, one that the late Whitney Houston's Instagram account had shared. His estate manages the account.
“Happy birthday to Kevin Costner!” reads the caption of the post.

Kevin Costner has paid tribute to Whitney Houston on several occasions
In 2012, Houston died tragically. She was only 48 years old.
Last year, Costner sat down for a June episode of the show Armchair expert podcast.
“I loved her – it’s not like this giant mystery – so I knew she would have to be the one,” Costner said at the time.
Apparently, Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston shared a special bond while filming the project. And Costner made several promises to Houston, including that the film would do well in theaters, even if it didn't do so in test screenings.
Another topic was that Houston wasn't supposed to have an entourage with her on set. THE Yellow stone the star intervened.
“I was always going to keep my promise to her,” he recalls. “(I said), 'I'll take care of you if there's someone important to you' – turned out to be Robyn Crawford – I said, 'Let's have Robyn with you.' And that's how we started.
“I was his imaginary bodyguard”
“I don’t know what that was,” Costner mused. “But we had a moment and I realized the world had a better idea of who we were.”
He continued: “So, I basically adopted it. I was his imaginary bodyguard.
Memories of Kevin Costner are only a small part of Whitney Houston's profound legacy. But he knew her better than her millions of fans. It means so much.
