La La Anthony was one of the most recognizable basketball wives, and now she's ready to become a college game mom!
The actress and host is already thinking about how she will support her son who she shares with the NBA great Carmelo Antoine–Kiyan when he laces up his sneakers to play at his father's alma mater, Syracuse University, in the fall. Basketball's top prospect will have all eyes on him as he attempts to return the team to national championship glory. But fans will also find La La in the stands.
“I don't have (the seizures) yet,” she said, “but I think I'm going to be that mom who's, like, ready for Syracuse. For sure.”
She also vows to bring celebrity friends with her to cheer for Kiyan.
“You know we’re going to get in there,” she said. “We’ll get there, that’s for sure.”
Kiyan committed to Syracuse in November and spoke about his decision in an emotional episode of Carmelo's podcast, 7 p.m. in Brooklynwhich also presented La La.
The proud parents beamed as the 17-year-old guard explained his plan to forge his own path in the historic program.
“Just look at Syracuse and see what could be done there if I were to go there,” Kiyan said by way of explanation. “They already have high-level people coming in, who I’m close to. Young coaching staff that I can connect with. Close to us, 45 minutes flight. They would put me on a 6 hour flight to California. Just all that, and then the ACC, they play Duke, Carolina. They play at all the good schools. All of this is part of why I chose Syracuse.
Thanks to Melo, Syracuse has only won one national championship, so a lot depends on Kiyan following in the footsteps of his iconic father.
