Liam Payne's boyfriend blasts singer's father in defamation suit

Liam Paynefriend Roger Nores has filed a defamation suit against the singer's father, Jeff Payne.

He claimed that his late friend's father smeared him in the media in the weeks after Payne's death, citing the man's claim that Norris was negligent in his care of the singer.

Roger Norres also said in the suit that he “never agreed to be and never was a carer for the late Liam Payne.”

TMZ obtained documents showing that Payne's boyfriend, Roger Nores, has filed a lawsuit against the singer's father, Jeff.

In the lawsuit, Norris, who was with the late singer just hours before his death, accused his friend's father of smearing his name after Payne's passing. He appeared to be referring to Jeff's public claims that he was responsible for Payne's care.

Nores also suggested that Jeff had made him a target of the Buenos Aires police, filing an affidavit saying that Nores had “full responsibility for Liam's care during this last period”.

According to the 35-year-old, Jeff's claims were false because he “never agreed to be and was never Liam's carer”.

He went on to say that he shared a strong bond with the late singer and that they supported each other, but it was only because they were “dear friends” and not in any paid arrangement.

In another part of the lawsuit, Norres also pleaded not guilty to any involvement in Payne's death, claiming he never provided the singer with “any recreational drugs and never monitored his prescriptions.”

He also mentioned that he had spoken to the late singer's father about not being able to “give the same amount of time to support” the former One Direction star. This reported conversation took place via email between him and Jeff in August 2024, and Nores claims that Jeff did not disclose it to authorities.

Norris also said he urged Jeff to take immediate action to address Payne's battle with addiction.

When they spoke the next month, Norris encouraged Jeff to visit Payne's residence in Wellington, Florida, to care for his son. However, despite his emphasis on Payne's condition, he maintained that Jeff never made the trip.

In his suit, Norres alleged that Jeffs “never provided Payne with a temporary or new bodyguard caretaker” after the late singer fired his “paid cleaner” and bodyguard, Bledar Watt.

Not only did he blame Jeff, Norres also suggested that people like Payne's girlfriend have a “unique ability, opportunity, and excellent knowledge of his activities and needs.”

He then called on the singer's late father to retract his sworn statement to the police.

“Geoff needs to recant his sworn statement because he knows full well that I was not Liam's nurse or caregiver,” Norris said. TMZ.

He added: “Liam, who I miss every day, was my dear friend and an independent, brilliant, respectful, free person who did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted.”

If the lawsuit ends in his favor, Nores intends to donate any money awarded to him to his late friend's son, Bear.

Norris is one of five suspects charged in the investigation into Payne's death following the singer's fatal fall from a hotel balcony.

He is charged with manslaughter over claims he abandoned Payne despite knowing the One Direction star was not at his best when he left the hotel on the day he died.

Although Nores is yet to be remanded in custody, he has been banned from leaving Argentina until the case is concluded.

He also denied that he had abandoned the late singer, adding that he left her in good health on the day of her death.

“I never left Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before it happened,” the Daily Mail said in a statement.

“When I left, there were over 15 people in the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him. I never imagined something like this would happen.”
