Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall says she was turned on by Harry Styles after a date

Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall talks about his brief affair with Harry Styles.

While Thirlwall, 32, won the UK version The X Factor In 2011, as a member of Little Mix, she previously auditioned in 2010, the same year Styles, 30, auditioned as a soloist and went on to make One direction.

“I think we went on, like, one date… we were like 16,” Thirlwall recalled during an interview on Monday, Dec. 20. “The Louis Theroux Podcast.”

“He just got put in the band. It was really funny because we kept in touch and the moment they went live he didn't text me and I was like, 'That's it. He's gone. He's made it,'” he continued the singer of the group “My Dream Angel”.

One Direction may have hit a hiatus in their music together, but the band members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have continued to play when it comes to romance. Thirlwall said she and Styles clashed the following year The X Factor when she competed on the show with Little Mix. “I saw him in the room after (the show) and he said, 'I'm really sorry I ignored you.'

Entrepreneur Louis Theroux exclaimed, “He imagined you?” Thirlwall replied with a laugh, “Yes.”

However, Thirlwall now sees the funny side of things.

“But I was so young it didn't really matter,” she said.

Thirlwall paid the compliment “Watermelon Sugar” singeradding: “He was always very, very nice. He's gotten to where he is because he's very talented and very nice.

While Thirlwall and Styles didn't get far, her bandmate, Perry Edwardsa date with a member of the Steel Band, Zayn Malikfour years. The couple got engaged in 2013, but called it quits in August 2015.

“From 17 to 21, I was in a relationship,” Malik said of his relationship with Edwards in a May 2024 interview Nylon. “I was engaged. I didn't know anything at that point. I thought I was doing it because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn't know what s–t was.
