'RHOBH' Star Bozom St. John's Home Burns to the Ground in Los Angeles Fires – She's Losing Everything
St. John of Bozom is mourning the loss of his dream home in Malibu, which was destroyed by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills The 47-year-old star confirmed in a heartbreaking Instagram post on January 9 that the home she had worked tirelessly to acquire is now gone.
In the emotional post Saint John reflected on the importance of the home, which she described as one she “prayed for” and “worked blood, sweat and tears” to make a reality. The house was a symbol of peace and a safe space for her and her 15-year-old daughter, Laela. “This is the house I wanted. The house I prayed for. The house I worked blood, sweat and tears for,” she wrote in the caption accompanying photos of the property.
Saint John went on to explain the deep personal meaning the house held for her, especially after facing challenges including racist neighbors. She shared that she had to buy a property in a trust within a trust to protect her privacy as a “widow, single black woman with a teenager” trying to buy in an “exclusively managed beachfront” area. “This is the house where I found peace after fighting racist neighbors and a community that forced me to buy it in a trust within a trust so that no one would know that a widowed, single black woman with a teenager was buying a beach-only property.”
The reality star, who tragically lost her husband to cancer in 2013, described the house as a refuge for herself and her family. “This was my EFF YOU I'M HERE house” Saint John said. “The house where I built a movie theater dedicated to my sister so she could see her movies in her sanctuary. This is the house where I finally feel like I can hang out…when I want and how I want.
Saint John ended his post with the devastating news that wildfires had destroyed the entire property. “It's gone,” she shared. “This is an unimaginable loss. I am grieving with the rest of Los Angeles as it burns…and even though I have found the words to write here, there is nothing I can say to describe the feeling. I am asking for your prayers for Lael and me. God bless you
Saint John friends and fellow celebrities offered their condolences in the comments section, offering words of comfort and support. Andy Cohen wrote: “I'm so sorry. It is unthinkable. ” Fashion designer Rachel Zoe shared, “You are one of the strongest and most inspiring women I know, and you always will. We've got you, and you're not alone. My heart is broken for you and all our friends. Actress Sophia Bush also offered her condolences, commenting: “Oh Boz, I'm so sorry. Considering you both in love.”
Wildfires have left many Los Angeles residents stranded, and more than 80,000 people have been affected. Other celebrities including Billy Crystal, Ricky Lake, Cameron Mathison and Paris Hilton have also confirmed losing their homes. Additionally, the fires have also affected Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, Miles and Kelly Teller, John Goodman, Jennifer Gray and many others.
Since the Palisades Fire began on Jan. 7, more than 130,000 residents have been under mandatory evacuation orders due to high winds and dry conditions fueling the flames. So far, the fires have claimed human lives, but officials are still determining the extent of all the damage and the exact number of victims.
