Macy Gray pretty much dropped out during the 2011 UK version A masked singer.
After viewers voted to save other artists, Gray, 57, who played Toad in the Hole in the show, spoke out against Laci. The judges ultimately chose to save Bear, sending Gray home and ordering her off the stage.
Gray later returned on Saturday 11 January's episode to reveal her identity and was interviewed by the host Joel Dommett. After the episode aired, Domett, 39, shared a clip of his conversation with Gray. “Lol,” he captioned his Instagram mail.
Dommett went on to recall the events during an appearance on BBC Radio 2. “So A masked singer is so good, it doesn't matter if you're a good singer or not, the show doesn't fall into either camp,” Dommett said on the Sunday, Jan. 12, episode. Daily mail. “Maisy's case is that she's a legend, she's got a recognizable voice and she might as well go because we all know it's her and they're putting the other person through because we still don't know who they are.”
Dommett argued that it's a “win-win situation” if a member is eliminated early because they “get the same money and (they) don't have to do anything else.”
“You can't be angry when you're dressed as a toad. In my professional career — I love Macy, she's got an incredible, great voice — but I've never seen anything funnier than a 6-foot-tall toad snapping,” he said. “That's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.”
Before Grey's part in the UK version of the series, she previously appeared in the US show in 2023. season 10 finale, Gray, who was the Queen of the Sea, called herself an “accomplished performer” but noted that A masked singer it was difficult because of her outfit. “It's hot in there!” she scoffed.
The Grammy-winning vocalist previously told Us Weekly that she has struggled with her self-confidence. “I have to get out of myself,” Gray said in September 2023. “I literally put on a cape and turn into a person who is brave and confident enough to get there.”
