Police arrested a Denton, Texas resident named Michael Lewis in Indianapolis on January 12 after sending more than a dozen messages to the WNBA star on X (formerly Twitter) that were both sexual and threatening in nature, the Marion County Prosecutor's Office said on January 13, according to the Star Indy.
The 55-year-old was charged with stalking and his arrest affidavit contained at least 15 examples of messages he allegedly sent to Clark, 22, on Star Indy reported.
“I've been banned from Caitbridge (sic). I'm sorry,” one of the messages included in the affidavit says, according to the publication, “But maybe I'm going to your games on the road… It’s okay, isn’t it?”
If convicted, he faces one to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Authorities were able to locate Lewis, according to the outlet, by tracing his IP address to a hotel less than a mile from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Indiana Fever — the team Clark plays for — often hosts games .
“Lewis’ presence in Indianapolis was particularly concerning,” detectives said in the affidavit, “given that he resides in Texas.”
E! reached out to Clark and authorities for comment but did not receive a response.
