Before Taylor Swift got into a relationship with Travis Kelce, she was dating a guy her fans weren't that crazy about.
Much to the relief of Swifties everywhere, Taylor's relationship with Matty Healy didn't last long. But it seems to have made an impression on the pop icon, regardless.
by Taylor Department of Tortured Poets The album makes several references to her brief romance with the lead singer from 1975.
And now it looks like Matty is about to return the favor.
Is Matty Healy planning a Taylor Swift diss track?
Fans on social media are convinced that Matty's next album with The 1975 will include a track called “God Has Entered My Body”, which will take aim at Taylor.
According to a new report from the British tabloid The Sunthe song will include sarcastic lyrics such as “Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling”.
Taylor has, on numerous occasions, used her lyrics to express her feelings about her high-profile romances and breakups.
But this might be the first time an ex has clapped back.
On Reddit, Swifties addressed the scandalous rumor regarding Matty's new music.
And in a move that surprised many, Healy's verified account commented, “Huge if this is true” on a recent post about the alleged song (via Page six). Is he just trolling, or is this his way of confirming the news? Only time will tell!
Open to interpretation?
The rest of the song (if it exists) is still under wraps, and that single line could refer to a lot of things.
But we know how such words would be interpreted by the public. And given his long history of pushing boundaries, Matty may not care about the backlash.
“Everyone at the studio thought it was about Matty's affair with Taylor and their fleeting romance,” said a close source. The Sun.
“Matty will never publicly comment on his relationships, but he lets his deepest feelings express in his songs and frees himself from everything,” the source continued.
“While the band will be headlining Glastonbury (in June), releasing a new album this summer makes perfect sense for them, so they can capitalize on the performance and have new material.”
The insider urged fans to “listen to the lyrics very carefully” when the track eventually drops.
If Matty actually releases a song about his relationship with Taylor, then you can rest assured that the whole world will be listening intently.
Of course, millions of Swifties probably won't like what they hear.
