Well, 2025 is already off to a surprising start for the Duchess of Sussex.
After a break of almost five years, Meghan Markle is officially back on Instagram!
The @meghan account was booked under mysterious circumstances earlier this year, and it immediately began accumulating high-profile followers.
For obvious reasons, fans quickly concluded that the page belonged to the world's most famous Meghan. And now those suspicions have been confirmed!
Meghan Markle's triumphant return to Instagram
Yes, Meghan returned to the social media pond in a memorable way this morning.
In a video recorded by her husband, Prince Harry, the Duchess frolicked on the beach and wrote “2025” in the sand before flashing a smile and running away from the camera.
Meghan didn't allow comments on the post, and only she can see how many people “liked” it.
So the reaction to the clip remains somewhat mysterious – although we do know that it has already been “liked” by some of Meg's famous friends, including Chrissy Teigen.
Many see the post as confirmation that Meghan and Harry's “professional separation” strategy will continue into the new year.
Unlike the couple's previous account, this one does not feature Harry's name, title, or official seal of approval anywhere near it.
(Although it seems he's more than happy to lend a hand behind the camera.)
A long break
Harry and Meghan stepped away from social media in early 2020, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As we can all sense, the world right now feels extraordinarily fragile,” the couple wrote at the time.
“Yet we are convinced that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference – as we see today around the world, in our families, our communities and those on the front lines – together, we can support each other to realize the fullness of this promise,” they continued.

Fans are curious if Meghan will use her new account to promote her American lifestyle brand Riviera Orchard, or if she will instead choose to focus on more personal content.
